Concerts in the Park Returns to VB Museum of Art

arts & entertainment

Concerts in the Park are back at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.  Bring a chair or picnic blanket and enjoy performances amid the beautiful outdoor atmosphere of the Museum’s Sculpture Park. Each evening features live music, a cash bar (beer and wine), and Off the Hook Food Truck.

The schedule kicks off on Thursday, February 27, at 5 p.m. with jazz pianist, singer, and composer Mike Telesmanick. Expect to hear classic be-bop arrangements echoing the styles of Bud Powell, Bill Evens, and Oscar Peterson, as well as contemporary jazz stylings, and pay vocal tribute to Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Johnny Hartman.

Music producer, composer, writer, and performer John Simon takes the stage on March 20 from 5–7 p.m. One of the top record producers of the 1960s and 1970s, Simon was responsible for pulling together more than a dozen albums now considered classics, including The Band’s “Music from Big Pink,” “The Band,” and “The Last Waltz”; “Cheap Thrills” by Big Brother & the Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin; “Songs of Leonard Cohen” by Leonard Cohen; and “Child Is Father to the Man” by Blood, Sweat & Tears, as well as recordings from Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Mama Cass Elliot, David Sanborn, Gil Evans, and Michael Franks, among others.

Tickets are purchased on the night of the show: $10 per VBMA member and $12 per non-member. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. For more information, call 772-231-0707 ext. 111, email vbmaevents@vbmuseum.org, or visit the Events section of vbmuseum.org.
