CCIRC Arts & Entertainment Calendar

Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Feb 22-Mar 1.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida”. Label Competition on view through Feb 27. Featured Artists: Merana Cadorette, Ella Chabot, Elise Geary, Mary Ann Hall, Gwen McNenney, Darrell Remole, Joe Thomas & Mariya Yankovich. The winner of the label competition will be revealed at a special event on Feb. 26 at the Heritage Center.  Limited-edition signature bottles of vodka will be available for sale.

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers AWW: Book Talk & Writing Combo on 2/22, 9:30am. An adult writers workshop featuring a two part event, book talk and writing.

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers Pirates on 2/22, 1pm. Non-fiction author, blogger, former Navy SEAL, and piracy expert, Benerson Little, will discuss his decades-long career studying and writing about piracy, both historical and modern. Part Two (3pm-5pm) of this event will mirror the traditional format of LRJF’s Adult Writing Workshops, focusing on combining blogging with full-length book writing.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop on 2/22, 2/27, 2/28, 3/1, 5:30pm. Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Bands TBD

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County on exhibit Indian River County Administration Buildings A and B. “Bring on the Cheer” is the theme. Featured Artists include Ella Chabot, Tony Caruso, Darryl Remole, Pat Willis, Janet Grossarth. On view through March 13.

Riverside Theatre offers Master Class on through 2/23, show times vary. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, Master Class tells the story of opera diva, Maria Callas, as she teaches a life-altering master class to students at an elite opera school. During the class, she encounters three students who are crushed, uplifted, and inspired by her artistry. Based on a series of real-life classes Callas delivered at Juilliard, Master Class is a window into the soul of one of the most complicated and celebrated artists of the 20th century.

Center for Spiritual Care offers ARTIVISM – Sculptor Dana King Celebrates Black History Month.  Exhibition runs through the month of February. Dana was a award winner news reporter who now exhibits her amazing talent and activism by creating black bodies in bronze. She does this to commemorate and educate others about black people who have made great progress in the Civil Rights Movement in America.

Environmental Learning Center offers Roger L. Hammer Native Wildflower Photography Exhibit on view through 2/28, Roger L. Hammer, an award-winning professional naturalist, botanist, photographer, author, and television survivalist.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers International Lecture Series: 1976 Paris Wine Tasting: How “the Unthinkable Happened” on 2/24, 4:30 p.m. In this lecture, Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson delves into the pivotal 1976 Paris Wine Tasting, or Judgement of Paris as it has become known. During this blind tasting to celebrate the American Bicentennial, some of the finest judges in France selected California wines over French wines in both the red and white categories for the first time ever. This was a major feat for overall quality and collaboration in the global wine world that reshaped the wine industry and dispelled the myth that only fine wines came from France.

McKee Botanical Garden offers Sean Kenney’s Nature Pop!® Made with LEGO® bricks Exhibition on view through 5/4. Featuring 40 sculptures made with over 800,000 LEGO; Bricks and explores the beauty of nature through contemporary, stylized, and colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings.

Melbourne Municipal Band offers The Music of Broadway and Opera on Feb. 25, 7 p.m. @ Community Church of Vero Beach. Join us as we celebrate the MMB’s 60th anniversary with conductor Staci Rosbury, soprano soloist Rachel Murphy, and tenor soloist Fred Kilgallin. You’ll hear music from Le Mis, Puccini’s Nessun Dorma and more! This is sure to be a dramatic and moving concert. FREE CONCERT.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Timeless: Robert Farber’s Fashion Photography.  Exhibition runs through 8/31.  Robert Farber’s professional practice spans commercial and fine art photography, with subject matter ranging from fashion and portraits to still life and landscapes. The works featured in Timeless are drawn from two major bodies of work: his Vintage Fashion series, captured during commercial shoots, and the Deterioration series, which consists of prints from his earlier fashion photography.

Riverside Theatre offers Singin’ in the Rain Feb. 25, through Mar. 21 – Show times vary. The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, from their original award-winning screenplay. Filled with every memorable moment from the film and a downpour of unforgettable songs “Singin’ in the Rain” is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

North Indian River County Library offers Lens of the World – Documentary Series on 2/26, 1:30pm. Join us to watch a documentary on a different topic each month and enjoy free popcorn and water provided by the Friends of the North IRC Library. Admission is free and there is no registration required.

Live from Vero Beach offers Bruce in the USA The World’s #1 Tribute to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band on 2/27, 7pm at the Emerson Center.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 on view through June 22.  This winter, the internationally touring French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, makes its first-ever stop in southeast Florida at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The exhibition showcases 59 artworks from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed collection of European art, spanning the era between the Revolution of 1848 and the conclusion of World War II-a period marked by significant social, intellectual, and political upheaval in France.  The exhibition highlights the avant-garde movements that shaped modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by renowned artists native to France, as well as those who studied and exhibited there.

Cultural Council of Indian River County offers The Art of Distilling on 2/26, 6pm at the Vero Heritage Center. This fundraiser and celebratory product reveal event will announce the winners of the community wide label design and naming competition on a limited-edition signature vodka created by Indian River Distillery as a special batch. Proceeds from the event and the donations towards this unique vodka will directly fund CCIRC’s programs supporting art and culture. This collaboration with Indian River Distillery is a creative way to champion local talent and innovation while raising funds for a meaningful cause. Dress to impress for our roaring 20’s theme! Environmental Learning Center offers mangroves, Moonlight & Mykonos on 3/1, 6 p.m. Our annual fundraiser with flair is channeling the mystical beauty of Mykonos! Join us as we eat, drink, and dance to live music while supporting environmental education and programs offered by the ELC.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on exhibit at the Indian River County Courthouse, 2000 16th Avenue, Vero Beach through May 8. Deutilization Conceptualism: The Evolution Of Meaning Beyond Function is a solo art exhibit by Viktor Genel.
