Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Mar 1 – Mar. 8

Environmental Learning Center offers Mangroves, Moonlight & Mykonos! on Mar. 1, 6 p.m. This annual fundraiser with flair is channeling the mystical beauty of Mykonos! Eat, drink, and dance to live music while supporting environmental education and programs offered by the ELC.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida”. Label Competition on view through Feb 27. Featured Artists: Merana Cadorette, Ella Chabot, Elise Geary, Mary Ann Hall, Gwen McNenney, Darrell Remole, Joe Thomas & Mariya Yankovich. The winner of the label competition will be revealed at a special event on Feb. 26 at the Heritage Center.  Limited-edition signature bottles of vodka will be available for sale.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop on Mar. 1, Mar. 6, Mar. 7, Mar. 8, 5:30 p.m. Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thurs., Fri. and Sat. evenings. Bands TBD

AAUW Vero Beach offers Yesterday’s Grit is Today’s Resilience on Mar. 3, 9:30 a.m. Louise Kennedy, who has served as Executive Director of the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation and as chair of the English Department at St. Edwards School, will review True Grit, by Charles Portis, at the Book Review Breakfast, at the Richardson Center of Indian River State College, Vero Beach. Free and open to the public.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County on exhibit Indian River County Administration Buildings A and B. “Bring on the Cheer” is the theme. Featured Artists include Ella Chabot, Tony Caruso, Darryl Remole, Pat Willis, Janet Grossarth. On view through March 13.

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers Historic Home Tours on Mar. 4, 1 p.m. Laura Riding Jackson’s historic home is open for tours from November through April each year. We can accommodate groups of 8 or fewer as drop-ins; to bring a larger group for a tour, please reserve in advance.

North Indian River County offers Silent Book Club – Sebastian on Mar. 4, 6 p.m. Silence is Golden, Reading is Bliss! Silent Book Club is a global community of readers that meets monthly to read silently, together. No monthly picks, no forced interaction. Beverages and snacks provided, but feel free to BYO!  No registration required to attend.

The Emerson Center offers Blue Angels: The Early Years on Mar. 4, 7 p.m. Mat Garretson, Print Historian for the Blue Angels and esteemed aviation historian unveils the Origins of the Legendary Flight Team. Garretson will explore the post-war atmosphere that led to the formation of the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Art in Bloom Luncheon on Mar. 6, 11 a.m. Vero Beach Museum of Art celebrates the 15th year of Art in Bloom with floral designer and author Sybil Brooke Sylvester, who will provide the anniversary keynote address. Attendees tour the exhibits to view and vote on floral arrangements inspired by the Museum’s permanent collection. Awards and lunch follow the presentation.

IRC Habitat for Humanity offers Women Build Kick Off on Mar. 6, 3 p.m. at the Heritage Center. Women Build! During the month of March, and in observance of International Women’s Month, we are launching a month-long advocacy campaign highlighting the need for women to have access to affordable homeownership opportunities.  Women’s Build 2025 takes place on Mar. 8, 7:30 a.m. at the job site.

Riverside Theatre offers Singin’ in the Rain Feb. 25, through Mar. 21 – Show times vary. The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, from their original award-winning screenplay. Filled with every memorable moment from the film and a downpour of unforgettable songs “Singin’ in the Rain” is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Mckee Botanical Garden offers Sean Kenney’s Nature Pop!® Made with LEGO® bricks Exhibition on view through 5/4. Featuring 40 sculptures made with over 800,000 LEGO; Bricks and explores the beauty of nature through contemporary, stylized, and colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 on view through June 22.  This winter, the internationally touring French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, makes its first-ever stop in southeast Florida at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The exhibition showcases 59 artworks from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed collection of European art, spanning the era between the Revolution of 1848 and the conclusion of World War II-a period marked by significant social, intellectual, and political upheaval in France.  The exhibition highlights the avant-garde movements that shaped modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by renowned artists native to France, as well as those who studied and exhibited there.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Timeless: Robert Farber’s Fashion Photography.  Exhibition runs through 8/31.  Robert Farber’s professional practice spans commercial and fine art photography, with subject matter ranging from fashion and portraits to still life and landscapes. The works featured in Timeless are drawn from two major bodies of work: his Vintage Fashion series, captured during commercial shoots, and the Deterioration series, which consists of prints from his earlier fashion photography.

Vero Beach Art Club offers the 74th Annual Under The Oaks, Mar. 7, 9 a.m – 5 p.m. & Mar. 8, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Riverside Park Vero Beach. Voted #8 in the U.S. by Sunshine Artist Magazine in 2023, featuring more than 200 nationwide artists in beautiful, tree-lined Riverside Park.

Environmental Learning Center offers A Force of Nature: Lecture & Workshop on Mar. 8, 1 p.m. A 45-minute lecture based on the book, A Force of Nature, that focuses on practical ways to rekindle your connection with the earth. The workshop that follows dives deeper into the connection between sensory awareness and creative expression.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on exhibit at the Indian River County Courthouse, 2000 16th Avenue, Vero Beach through May 8. Deutilization Conceptualism: The Evolution Of Meaning Beyond Function is a solo art exhibit by Viktor Genel.
