Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Apr. 19 – 26.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida” on view through May 29.  Featured Artists include Judy Burgarella, Merana Cadorette and Mary Carter.

North Indian River County Library offers French Conversation Class on Apr. 19, 1:30 p.m. This is an informal meeting for French speakers of all levels to practice and enhance their conversational abilities. Please note, this is not for beginners, but rather an opportunity for those with prior French language experience to connect and converse.  No registration required to attend. Free.

Christ by the Sea offers Easter Cantata on Apr. 19, 4:30 p.m. & 7 p.m. Experience the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ set to a full musical production with a mixed choir, full orchestra, liturgical dancers, dramatic scenes, and uplifting narration! Featuring singers and musicians from many colleges in FL. Free will offering appreciated.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop – Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thurs., Fri. and Sat. evenings at 5:30 p.m.; Apr. 19 – Glory Days; Apr. 24 – The Funky Jazz Connection; Apr. 25 – Stones Clones; Apr. 26 – St. Johns Wood.

Center for Spiritual Care offers Ceramics Invitational on view through Apr. 30.  Exhibit by 6 talented local artists who display their beautiful ceramics. The artists include: Walford Campbell, Sean & Sharon Sexton, Maria Sparsis, Ginnie Peach Street and Glenda Taylor.

McKee Botanical Garden offers Sean Kenney’s Nature Pop!® Made with LEGO® bricks Exhibition on view through 5/4. Featuring 40 sculptures made with over 800,000 LEGO; Bricks and explores the beauty of nature through contemporary, stylized, and colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on exhibit at the Indian River County Courthouse, 2000 16th Avenue, Vero Beach through May 8. Deutilization Conceptualism: The Evolution of Meaning Beyond Function is a solo art exhibit by Viktor Genel.

Riverside Theatre offers Distinguished Lecturer Series Apr. 21, 4 p.m. & 6 p.m. Speaker: David L. Roscoe; Topic: Artificial Intelligence.  David Roscoe is currently the Chair of The Hastings Center Advisory Council and Board Chair Emeritus, and in those capacities has represented The Hastings Center, an independent non-profit bioethics research institute, as an active participant in the global AI community since 2017.

Environmental Learning Center offers Earth Day Pontoon and Mindfulness Gathering on Apr. 22, 1 p.m. The day will begin with a guided pontoon boat tour to Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge (1 & 3 p.m.). Afterward, enjoy a walking meditation, a mindfulness nature practice, and tea on the ELC grounds (3:30 & 5 p.m.)  No yoga mat or experience necessary – just comfortable shoes and an open mind.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County on exhibit Indian River County Administration Buildings A and B. “Welcome to My World” is the theme. Featured Artists include Ella Chabot, Tony Caruso, Judy Burgarella, John McAleer. On view through June 19.

Emerson Center offers The Indian River Lagoon By Brush and Lens Opening Reception on Apr. 23, 5:30 p.m., an Earth Day-inspired exhibition showcasing the natural beauty and ecological significance of the Indian River Lagoon through art and photography. The exhibition through June 4, 2025.

Vero Heritage offers Cultivating Connections: Agriculture, Community & Advocacy with Jake Fojtik on Apr. 23, 6 p.m. An engaging discussion on the past, present, and future of agriculture in Indian River County. Jake Fojtik, Assistant Director of Government & Community Affairs for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation and owner of Fojtik Flatwoods Farm, will share insights on agricultural advocacy, sustainable farming practices, and the importance of supporting local food production.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 on view through June 22.  This winter, the internationally touring French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, makes its first-ever stop in southeast Florida at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

The exhibition showcases 59 artworks from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed collection of European art, spanning the era between the Revolution of 1848 and the conclusion of World War II-a period marked by significant social, intellectual, and political upheaval in France.  The exhibition highlights the avant-garde movements that shaped modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by renowned artists native to France, as well as those who studied and exhibited there.

Melbourne Municipal Band offers Space. The Final Frontier on Apr. 23 & Apr. 24, 7 p.m. at the Melbourne Auditorium. Modern-day telescopes are revealing parts of space so distant and strange that we are struggling to understand what we are seeing. How did the universe come to be as it is? We struggle to understand through science and science-fiction. Our imaginations, with the help of music, allows us to travel to places we’ll never reach ourselves. FREE CONCERT! Preshow: Clarinetics

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers Historic Home Tours on Apr. 25, 1 p.m. Laura Riding Jackson’s historic home is open for tours. You can drop by and our amazing volunteer docents will give you a tour! We can accommodate groups of 8 or fewer as drop-ins; to bring a larger group for a tour, please reserve in advance.

Riverside Theatre offers Beautiful Apr. 15 through May 11, showtimes vary. Unity Spiritual Center of Vero Beach offers EarthFest Family – Friendly – Friday on Apr. 25, 4 p.m. An evening of fun, entertainment, and a commitment to sustainability. This event promises something for everyone, with a variety of exciting activities for the whole family: Bounce Houses, Artisan Market, Children’s Activities, Dinner Available, Electronic Recycling, Wellness Practitioners and more.

Riverside Theatre offers Comedy Zone on Apr. 25 & Apr. 26, 6 p.m. Riverside’s showcase of professional comedians touring the comedy circuit takes the Waxlax Stage. Comedians: Nathan Wallace & Nadeem Awad.

AAUW Vero Beach offers Play the New Mah Jongg Card on Apr. 26, 10:30 a.m. at the Vero Beach Yacht Club. This special fundraising event invites players of all skill levels to experience the new Mah Jongg card, enjoy a delicious lunch and win prizes and gift certificates donated by our local shops and restaurants – and all in support of scholarships for women and girls in Indian River County.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Timeless: Robert Farber’s Fashion Photography.  Exhibition runs through 8/31.  Robert Farber’s professional practice spans commercial and fine art photography, with subject matter ranging from fashion and portraits to still life and landscapes. The works featured in Timeless are drawn from two major bodies of work: his Vintage Fashion series, captured during commercial shoots, and the Deterioration series, which consists of prints from his earlier fashion photography.
