Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for May 10 – 17.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in conjunction with Mandy and Ray Hooker invite you to a viewing at Indian River Distillery, 3308 Aviation Blvd. in Vero Beach.  Exhibit Theme: “Old Florida” on view through May 29.  Featured Artists include Judy Burgarella, Merana Cadorette and Mary Carter.

Riverside Theatre offers Comedy Zone on May 10, 6 p.m. Riverside’s showcase of professional comedians touring the comedy circuit takes the Waxlax Stage. Comedians: Dean Napolitano and Joe Latham.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop – Riverside Theatre’s FREE outdoor music venue with local musicians playing Thurs., Fri. and Sat. evenings at 5:30 p.m.; May 10 – Real Deal.

Environmental Learning Center offers Mother’s Day at ELC on May 11, 8 a.m. Celebrate Mother’s Day with free admission from 8 AM to 4 PM. Bring the family, honor the amazing moms in your life, and spend the day surrounded by the beauty of Mother Earth. Explore our trails, touch tank, aquariums, playscapes, and more while reconnecting with the natural world that nurtures us all.

Riverside Theatre offers Beautiful through May 11, showtimes vary. Follow the inspiring true story of Carole King’s remarkable rise to stardom – from being part of a hit songwriting team to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. 

Featuring a stunning array of beloved songs, including “I Feel the Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” and “You’ve Got a Friend,” this Tony® and Grammy® winner is the soundtrack for many generations.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on exhibit at the Indian River County Courthouse, 2000 16th Avenue, Vero Beach and extended through August 7. Deutilization Conceptualism: The Evolution of Meaning Beyond Function is a solo art exhibit by Viktor Genel.

Gifford Youth Orchestra offers Piano Recital on May 13, 6 p.m. at the Gifford Community Center. Free Admission – welcome to All!

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 on view through June 22.  This winter, the internationally touring French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, makes its first-ever stop in southeast Florida at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

The exhibition showcases 59 artworks from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed collection of European art, spanning the era between the Revolution of 1848 and the conclusion of World War II-a period marked by significant social, intellectual, and political upheaval in France.  The exhibition highlights the avant-garde movements that shaped modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by renowned artists native to France, as well as those who studied and exhibited there.

Melbourne Municipal Band offers 3-2-1 Jazz Orchestra: Battle of the Bands on May 14, 7 p.m. at the Melbourne Auditorium. Rematch with the Space Coast Big Band -Twice the Bands for Twice the Fun!

Vero Beach Art Club offers 32nd Annual Indian River County Library Art Exhibit through May. Fine Arts & Crafts exhibition and sale by Vero Beach Art Club Artists.

Art at the Emerson Center offers The Indian River Lagoon By Brush and Lens through June 4, 2025. An Earth Day-inspired exhibition showcasing the natural beauty and ecological significance of the Indian River Lagoon through art and photography.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County on exhibit Indian River County Administration Buildings A and B. “Welcome to My World” is the theme. Featured Artists include Ella Chabot, Tony Caruso, Judy Burgarella, John McAleer. On view through June 19.

Vero Beach Art Club offers Veterans Art Classes on May 15, 6 p.m. Open to local Veterans interested in learning how to paint, draw, and use art as a form of therapy. Sign up is strongly encouraged so we may prepare accordingly. Free for Veterans, First Responders, and Spouses of Veterans and First Responders.   Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced artists welcome!

North Indian River County Library offers Blockbuster Movie Day on May 16, 1:30 p.m. Join us to watch a recent release and enjoy free popcorn and water provided by the Friends of the North IRC Library. Admission is free and there is no registration required to attend.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Timeless: Robert Farber’s Fashion Photography.  Exhibition runs through 8/31.  Robert Farber’s professional practice spans commercial and fine art photography, with subject matter ranging from fashion and portraits to still life and landscapes. The works featured in Timeless are drawn from two major bodies of work: his Vintage Fashion series, captured during commercial shoots, and the Deterioration series, which consists of prints from his earlier fashion photography.

Vero Beach Art Club offers Summer Splash Member Art Exhibit runs through June 22. Come by and see this fun Member show. At the same time, artist and artisan members of the Art Club fill the adjoining Marketplace space with wares for purchase.

North Indian River County Library offers French Conversation Classes on May 17, 1:30 p.m. This is an informal meeting for French speakers of all levels to practice and enhance their conversational abilities. Please note, this is not for beginners, but rather an opportunity for those with prior French language experience to connect and converse.  No registration required to attend. Free.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County in collaboration with Pelican Island Audubon Society on exhibit at Indian River County Intergenerational Recreation Center. A showcase for local elementary school students capturing their experiences through photography. On view May 1 to July 17.
