At the conclusion of each academic year TYJ asks its students to complete a survey of how they felt they had benefited from the program. Students were told to be completely honest, and no names were associated with each survey. 54 students participated in the survey, though over 25 were absent the day the survey was given out. We hope those 25 echoed the feelings of the others.

The Young Journalist is a reading and writing program where students learn the fundamentals of the art of journalism. Students are free to research and write essays about whatever arouses their curiosity. Student essays are published in a magazine twice an academic year. The May 2025 magazine contained 67 essays.
Even though we only mentor our students two hours a week, we hope what we do brushes off on their academic performance.
