The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) will celebrate the unveiling of its new front gate on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM with a ribbon-cutting and reception. Made possible by the generosity of Richard and Janina Weghorn, the custom-designed gate reflects the ELC’s mission to connect people with nature and welcomes visitors to its 64-acre lagoon-island campus.

The event will include brief remarks from ELC leadership and donors, followed by light refreshments in the Lagoon Gallery. “This beautiful new gate is a symbol of generosity, community, and our shared commitment to environmental education,” said Barbara Schlitt Ford, Executive Director.
