The Board of County Commissioners is excited to announce that Indian River County will once again host the Special Olympics Florida State Swimming Championship, a premier event uniting athletes from all 67 Florida counties for a weekend filled with spirited competition, sportsmanship, and celebration.
The competition kicks off on Saturday, September 27, at the North County Aquatic Center, located at 9450 County Road 512, Sebastian, FL, starting at 9:00 AM. The day culminates with the opening ceremony at the IG Center, 1590 9th St SW, Vero Beach, FL, beginning at 7:30 PM. The championship concludes with final day competitions on Sunday, September 28, at the North County Aquatic Center.
This championship presents a unique opportunity for Indian River County to showcase its renowned Southern hospitality while welcoming athletes, families, coaches, and supporters from across the state. “We are proud to host this inspiring event,” said Beth Powell, Director of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. “It’s a time to celebrate the incredible abilities of the athletes and the dedication of everyone involved.”
