Senior Resource Association’s IR Transit receives two statewide awards

news release

Senior Resource Association (SRA) is proud to announce that Indian River Transit has received two top honors at the 2025 Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) Annual Awards: Outstanding System of the Year for its GoLine public transit system, and Operator of the Year awarded to longtime paratransit driver Rosemary Millar.

This marks the third time Indian River Transit has earned the Outstanding System of the Year award, previously recognized in 2017 and 2022. The 2025 honor celebrates GoLine’s continued excellence in efficiency, effectiveness, and community impact. Over the past three years, GoLine ridership has surged—up 19% from last year and now exceeding pre-COVID benchmarks. Serving a county of 169,000 residents, the system provides more than 1.35 million passenger trips annually, with 88% of households located within ¾ mile of a bus stop.

“GoLine is more than a transit system—it’s a lifeline for our community. Transportation should never be a barrier to quality of life,” said Karen Deigl, SRA President and CEO. “This award reflects the dedication of our entire transit team and staff and public transportation’s vital role in Indian River County.”

In addition to system-wide recognition, SRA celebrates Rosemary Millar, named Operator of the Year for the State of Florida. With 29 years of service, 1.2 million miles driven, and a spotless safety record, Rosemary exemplifies professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her passengers. Her extensive training, calm leadership, and genuine rapport with riders make her a beloved figure in the community and a role model within the organization.

Rosemary’s devotion to SRA’s mission goes far beyond her role behind the wheel. When volunteers are needed, she often steps up to deliver Meals on Wheels.

“Rosemary is more than a driver—she’s an ambassador for our mission,” said Deigl. “Her kindness, reliability, and dedication embody the values we strive to uphold every day.”

These awards underscore SRA’s commitment to providing safe, accessible, and impactful transportation services that enhance the lives of residents across Indian River County.
