CCIRC Arts & Entertainment Calendar for IRG

Arts, entertainment and fun in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River County as compiled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County for Oct. 11-18.

Pelican Island Conservation Society presents their Annual Pelican Island Conservation Society Bird and Nature Art Show Saturday October 11 and 18 from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at One Lagoon/Historical School house. The show benefits the PICS friends group for the Pelican Island National wildlife Refuge.

Gallery 14 presents The Secret Journey-Abstract Realms: Paintings by Ilene Gruber Adams.  The show is in celebration of the opening of their 18th season on 14th Avenue in the Downtown Arts District and will run through Oct 31.

Sebastian River Art Club offers 3rd Annual Exhibition at VBMA This vibrant showcase highlights the exceptional talent of SRAC members, featuring a diverse array of styles, colors, textures, and compositions. Admission is free – exhibit runs from through Oct. 19.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on exhibit at Indian River County Intergenerational Recreation Center, 1590 9th Street SW through October 30. Summer’s Delight is the theme. Featured Artists include Judy Burgarella, Tony Caruso, Peter Jordan, Joan Mercer and Mark Wygonik.

Environmental Learning Center offers The Gator Group Fiber Artists – Exhibit on view through October. Discover the intricate beauty of hooked-rug fiber art in this vibrant collection by The Gator Group Fiber Artists. Each piece blends color, texture, and storytelling, showcasing the artistry and creativity of this talented collective.

Vero Beach Art Club offers Summer Memories Member Exhibit on view at the VBAC Gallery & Marketplace through Oct. 14th. This vibrant exhibition celebrates the artistry and creativity of the Club’s members, capturing the warmth, spirit, and inspiration of summertime. Gallery Hours Vary.

Center for Spiritual Care offers Soulful Harvest, the amazing artwork of Lisa Lugo and Gail Lois Jaffe. Exhibit runs through Nov. 15.

Featured Artists include Judy Burgarella, Tony Caruso, Mary Carter, John McAleer and Sheila McAvoy. On view until January 15, 2026.

Art in Public Places Program sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County is on Exhibit at Vero Beach City Hall, 1053 20th Place through October 23. Inspired is the theme. Hallway gallery features works by Jen Berlin. Council Chambers gallery features works by Merana Cadorette and Richard Gillmor.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach offers Henhouse Prowlers on Oct. 12, 10:00 a.m. The acclaimed bluegrass quartet will perform the Sunday service anthem, & Gospel in Review. The public is invited to join the Sunday service and experience the Henhouse Prowlers unique musical storytelling firsthand.

Center for Spiritual Care offers Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction on Oct. 13, 6:00 p.m. This is an eight-week program designed to instruct participants on how to have greater attention control. Classes include meditation practice, experiential learning and group discussion.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach offers Film Screening on Oct. 14, 6:00 p.m. Join us for a special screening of Banned Together: The Fight Against Censorship.  Banned Together follows three students as they take a stand against book bans, fighting to reinstate 97 titles suddenly removed from their school libraries.

Environmental Learning Center offers Wild Wednesdays on Oct. 15, 3:00 p.m. Join at the F.U.N. Zone Nature Playscape (Families Unplugged in Nature). Designed with homeschool families in mind, this is a chance for kids and parents to unplug, connect with others, and enjoy all the outdoor spaces the ELC has to offer.

Vero Beach Museum of Art education staff and docents offers an Art Talk “Otherworldly Visions” on October  15 at 12:00 p.m.  An in-depth focus on select artworks from special exhibitions and the permanent collection. Registration required.

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation offers Teacher Appreciation Event on Oct. 15, 3:00 p.m. Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation celebrates all that teachers do! Teachers of Indian River County are welcome to come and enjoy hors d’oeuvres & drinks at the LRJF historic house and pole barn on the campus of IRSC- Mueller.

Environmental Learning Center offers a Beginners’ Bird Walk around the Environmental Learning Center on October 16 (and each third Thursday of the month) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., registration required.

Riverside Theatre offers Little Shop of Horrors on Oct. 16 through Nov. 9.  Show times vary. You’ll scream with delight at Little Shop of Horrors, the outlandishly funny science fiction musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Featuring a pop/rock score, Little Shop tells the story of Seymour, a meek and dejected assistant at a flower shop who happens upon a strange plant on his way home.

Riverside Theatre offers Live in the Loop Local musicians play the Loop Outdoor Stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday, 10/16: Vero Beach Blues Society; Friday, 10/17: Soultime; Saturday, 10/18: Riptide.

Riverside Theatre offers Comedy Zone on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Riverside’s showcase of professional comedians touring the comedy circuit takes the Waxlax Stage. Comedians are: Cash Levy and Ben Jones.

The Heritage Center offers Heritage Harvest Weekend to kick off the Heritage Center’s Heritage Blue Grass music series 6:30 p.m. Saturday October 18, then every third Wednesday from November to May. Vendors, family activities, and a special book signing by Rody Johnson of his newly published history of Vero on Saturday October 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free and open to the community.

Center for Spiritual Care offers Hope Springs Eternal on October 18 at 2:00 p.m. This is a smudging pastel class, led by local artist, Amanda Rae. She says, “This is a visual art lesson of the upward spiral”. Registration required.
