Riverside Theatre: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

arts & entertainment

Riverside Theatre proudly presents the delightfully wicked musical comedy A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, running on the Stark Stage January 9 – February 1, 2026. Sponsored by Paul & Joanne Bourdeau, Bill & Eva Gurley, and Riverside Theatre’s Patron Producers, this Tony® Award-winning musical promises an evening of charm, wit, and uproarious fun.

Winner of four Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murdertells the hilarious tale of Monty Navarro, an unassuming clerk who discovers he is ninth in line to inherit a vast family fortune—and a noble title. There’s just one small complication: eight eccentric D’Ysquith relatives must be removed (permanently) for Monty to succeed. What follows is a fast-paced swirl of clever storytelling, sharp humor, and deliciously murderous musical mischief.

Directed by Tony® Award–nominated actor and director Hunter Foster (Little Shop of Horrors), Riverside Theatre’s production features Jake Levy (National Tours: Wicked, Anastasia) as Monty Navarro and Dan DeLuca (National Tours: Newsies, title role The Nutty Professor) as the entire D’Ysquith family—each outlandish character meeting an unfortunate fate in spectacular fashion.

Set in Edwardian England, the musical features a dazzling score by Steven Lutvak and a witty book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman. Based on Roy Horniman’s 1907 novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal, the show premiered at Hartford Stage in 2012 before moving to the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and subsequently opening on Broadway in 2013 at the Walter Kerr theatre where it ran for 1,013 performances. The Broadway production received ten Tony® Award nominations, twelve Drama Desk nominations, eleven Outer Critics Circle nominations, and two Drama League nominations.

Riverside Theatre’s cast includes Jake Levy (Monty Navarro), Dan DeLuca (The D’Ysquith Family), Mary Kate Moore (Sibella Hallward), Lauren Medina (Phoebe D’Ysquith), Tregoney Shepherd (Miss Shingle), Jazmin Gorsline (Woman #1), Shawna Michele Hamic (Woman #2), Mikayla Agrella (Woman #3), Jackson Mattek (Man #1), Darrick Penny (Man #2), and Benjamin Robert Lurye (Man #3). Ensemble members include Jessie Jo Aka, Sabrina Brush, Brad Greer, and Chris Mauro.

Along with Mr. Foster as director of this production, the creative team includes Alison Soloman (Choreographer), Jeffrey Campos (Music Director), Nate Bertone (Scenic Designer), Joshua Warner (Assistant Scenic Designer), Kurt Alger (Costume & Wig Designer), Christina Watanabe (Lighting Designer), Craig Beyrooti (Sound Designer), and Jackie Mariani (Production Stage Manager) with Lydia Runge and Katie Wilhelm (Assistant Stage Managers).
