Lights, camera, action— music! The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will present a concert jam-packed with movie music and film clips during Hooray for Hollywood: The Sequel, Sunday, December 14 at 3:00 PM, at the Emerson Center, located at 1590 27th Avenue in Vero Beach.
The program features music by John Williams, Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Leroy Anderson and others. The audience will experience music from some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, many accompanied by action on the big screen. Santa is front and center, with music from such holiday film favorites as Miracle on 34th Street and the Nightmare Before Christmas. The jaunty “Sleigh Ride” will take listeners on an exhilarating wintry ride and concertgoers will get to sing along to a collection of best-known Christmas carols and songs during Christmas Festival. Violinist Evgeny Komarnitskiy will be showcased in several concert works, including excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof, the sensitive “Gabriel’s Oboe” from The Mission, the theme from Schindler’s List and music from Cinema Paradiso. Two new works from Florida composers are also on the program, confirming the SCSO’s commitment to performing the work of emerging artists.
$35 tickets for the concert are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust, beachside and mainland branches. Tickets at the door are $40. Concertgoers aged 18 and under or with a college ID are admitted free to every SCSO concert.
