Indian River CARES, a coalition of nonprofits, service clubs, and faith based organizations serving Indian River County, is pleased to announce that its annual Volunteer Recruitment Fair held on Giving Tuesday at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center was a tremendous success. Numerous community members attended to learn about meaningful volunteer opportunities across Indian River County.
The fair brought together 30+ local nonprofits and community organizations, each committed to inspiring residents to give back, get involved, and support causes that strengthen our region. Attendees connected with nonprofit leaders, gathered information, and discovered meaningful ways their time and talents can make a real impact.
Participating nonprofits reported making valuable connections throughout the event. Attendees also shared their appreciation for having such a personal, accessible way to explore how they might join these organizations in their work to enhance quality of life for everyone in our community.
“We were thrilled to see such an enthusiastic turnout,” said Barbara Schlitt Ford, the informal Coalition’s creator and facilitator. “Indian River CARES is built on collaboration. Events like this show how deeply our community values service, connection, and supporting one another. We hope everyone who attended or visits our website will consider committing time to one of our many incredible local organizations.”
Residents who missed the event can still explore dozens of opportunities by visiting IndianRiverCares.org, where organizations are organized by focus area for easy navigation.
