If it’s January on the Treasure Coast, it surely means that First Presbyterian of Vero Beach is featuring a new art show. On Sunday, January 11 from 1 PM until 3 PM, the public is invited to the opening of the annual Winter Art Show: Women in Art at The Galleries of First Pres, located on the church campus, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach.

“Portrait of a Pony” and “Bonnie Went to a Garden Party” are just two of the works by Kristin Moger and Bonnie Bolton on display at the Winter Art Show at First Presbyterian of Vero Beach. The public can view the exhibit and meet both artists during a reception on January 11. Admission is free. Call (772) 562-9088 for more information. Photo collage by buzz biz public relations.

Local residents and visitors alike are welcome to stroll through two gallery spaces at First Presbyterian and view the curated work of pen and ink artist Kristin Moger and the mixed media artist Bonnie Bolton. A Pennsylvania native, Moger describes her work as, “Seriously Fun Art.” She dabbled in multiple media styles for over 25 years, before eventually settling on patterned animal and nature ink drawings in 2014. She invites the viewer to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the intricacies of her drawings, since “the magic is in the details.”

With subjects grounded in the natural world, Kristin Moger describes her own work as “about wonder, contemplation, peace, joy & contentment.” Bonnie Bolton is a long-time resident of Vero Beach and a member of the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Bolton is known for her mixed-media assemblages, finding beauty and whimsy in a range of found objects, and then using them to embellish her art. Her work often begins with the photo of a woman from the early to mid-twentieth century, with a body subsequently constructed of “odd bits of paper, my own hand-painted or altered paper scraps, receipts, old tickets, tags and postcards,” and other commonly discarded items.

During the January 11 opening reception, Moger and Bolton will be on hand to meet the public and answer questions about their work. Dr. Jacob Craig, Director of Music and Arts at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach and a popular local pianist, will provide piano music during the reception. The show will run through March 30, 2026. The Galleries at First Pres are open from noon to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday and on Sunday mornings between church services. Admission is free and open to the community. For more information about the Winter Art Show: Women in Art, visit www.FirstPresVero.org or call (772) 562-9088.

Suze Lavender curates the rotating collection at The Galleries at First Pres and is herself an artist, having studied under the Netherlands-born painter, sculptor and printmaker, Frits Van Eeden. She is proud to present the work of two outstanding artists during the Winter Art Show: Women in Art through March 30.

“Four times a year, we have the distinct honor of showcasing the work of outstanding local artists in our galleries,” said Ms. Lavender. “Our winter show will focus on two very different artists, each with a talent that conveys something important about their worlds.”

The Galleries at First Presbyterian feature a wide variety of works by local artists, on rotation throughout the year.
