Aleksandr Zhuk violin

Sunday, January 18 at 3 p.m.: Music and Nation

In the 18th century, music performed by string quartets was just taking shape. Through his dozens of quartets, Haydn established, honed, and elevated the form, shaping our modern understanding of it. ACO musicians will perform one of his most beloved works, followed by Dvořák’s vibrant and lyrical G Major Quintet.

Sunday, February 15 at 3 p.m.: Melody and Counterpoint

In a sea of traditional chamber music, there are occasional atolls of unusual instrumentation. Mozart’s Oboe Quartet is one of the first—a jewel of invention and charm. Written for his friend, the virtuoso oboist Friedrich Ramm, the piece was designed to showcase both Ramm’s dazzling technique and the expressive range of the newest, most advanced oboe. Following Mozart, we turn to Bach’s Goldberg Variations, in Dmitry Sitkovetsky’s elegant arrangement for string trio. This luminous reimagining brings Bach’s counterpoint into sharp relief, offering clarity, intimacy, and a fresh perspective on a timeless masterwork.

Duo Beaux Arts

Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m.: Kaleidoscope of Expressions

Duo Beaux Arts, a Steinway Ensemble, offers a program of piano duet repertoire that blends charm, lyricism, and brilliance. Highlights include Schubert’s deeply expressive Fantasy in F Minor, selections from Ravel’s evocative Mother Goose Suite, Chabrier’s spirited España, and a graceful transcription of Johann Strauss Jr.’s Blue Danube Waltz.
