If you and your sweetie enjoy sci-fi movies, the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra has a Valentine’s weekend suggestion that’s Out of This World: A concert of Hollywood’s greatest sci-fi film scores, played to film clips on screen!
Out of This World includes some of the genre’s most exciting music on Sunday, February 15 at 3:00 PM, at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue in Vero Beach. The audience can look forward to multiple musical selections from composer John Williams, including Across the Stars from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clone and The Star Wars Saga. Goldsmith’s Star Trek: First Contact is included, along with the Symphonic Suite from Star Trek and two pieces from the Alien movies franchise. Additional sci-fi works from Independence Day, Cocoon, X-Files and Avatar, The Way of Water round out the immersive, cinematic experience. Nearly all of the music will be performed to projected clips from the original movies. Attendees of all ages are welcome to come dressed as their favorite characters from “a galaxy far, far away” or other sci-fi figures. $35 tickets for the concert are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust, beachside and mainland branches. Tickets at the door are $40. Concertgoers aged 18 and under or with a college ID are admitted free to every SCSO concert. For more information about Out of This World, call 855-252-7276 or visit SpaceCoastSymphony.org.
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins was inspired by film music at an early age and understands the powerful relationship between compelling imagery and evocative scores. Out of This World includes music from some of Hollywood’s biggest and best sci-fi films.
Frederick Blanchard will guest conduct two works on the concert, the music of Cocoon and John Williams’ Across the Stars. A former student of Aaron Collins, Mr. Blanchard is an emerging conductor and educator based in Florida, active across orchestral, choral, and percussion settings. He currently serves as Director of Orchestras at University High School and Galaxy Middle School, Assistant Director of Percussion at Ocoee High School, and Music Director for Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, where he leads a wide range of ensemble and worship music programs.
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is one of only a handful of U.S. orchestras to perform year-round. Concertgoers aged 18 and under or with a college ID are admitted free to every SCSO concert.
