“Life is much too serious to be taken seriously!” That spirited reminder sets the tone for the Senior Resource Association Foundation’s (SRAF) inaugural Living Joyfully luncheon, a new event celebrating community, connection, and the power of shared laughter, presented by Trudie Rainone.
The luncheon will take place Monday, February 23, 2026, from noon–2 p.m. at Quail Valley River Club, where guests will enjoy an uplifting afternoon with Vicki Lawrence—beloved actress, comedian, singer, and Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee. Fans will instantly recognize Lawrence from her iconic characters on The Carol Burnett Show and the hit sitcom Mama’s Family, where her portrayal of Thelma Harper (“Mama”) became a cultural staple.
“Living Joyfully is about creating space for connection, laughter, and shared experience,” said Robyn Orzel, SRA Foundation Executive Director. “Vicki Lawrence brings a wonderful blend of humor and authenticity, and we’re excited to welcome her to our community.”
“This luncheon reflects our commitment to offering meaningful programs and events that strengthen the well‑being of older adults in Indian River County,” said SRA President and CEO Karen Deigl. “We’re grateful for the generosity of our supporters and proud to introduce an event that celebrates joy while advancing our mission.”
About Vicki Lawrence
Vicki Lawrence is an actress, comedian, and singer known for the many characters she originated on CBS’s The Carol Burnett Show, where she appeared from 1967 to 1978. One such character, Thelma Harper/Mama, became the central figure of the popular sitcom Mama’s Family.
Over the years, Lawrence has appeared on television programs including Laverne & Shirley, Major Dad, Roseanne, Hannah Montana, and Yes, Dear. She has also reunited with Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, and Tim Conway for The Carol Burnett Show retrospectives.
Her stage credits include Carousel, Send Me No Flowers, No, No, Nanette, Chapter Two, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, and Live from the Grand Ole Opry. Lawrence continues to tour nationally and frequently speaks to women’s organizations and nonprofit groups, sharing her life story with her trademark humor and heart.
Living Joyfully would not be possible without the dedication of the event Committee—Sherry Ann Dayton, Dawn Michael, and Trudie Rainone—for their leadership and vision.
