At a free Book Review Breakfast at 9:30am on Monday, March 2, local radio personality Ellen Contreras will discuss The Little Girls’ Guide to Entrepreneurship: What I Now Know but Wish I Knew Then, by Emily McHugh. The event is hosted by the Vero Beach branch of the American Association of University Women. It will be in the Richardson Center on the Vero Beach campus of Indian River State College.
Ellen is founder and host of the popular iHeart radio talk show, Treasure Coast Connector, which is dedicated to shining a spotlight on local business owners and connecting them with the community. Known for her thoughtful interviews and deep ties to the small-business world, she brings a seasoned perspective on entrepreneurship, resilience, and reinvention.
Adding a special dimension to the event, author Emily McHugh will be on hand to share insights, reflect on lessons learned, and engage directly with the audience. Together, McHugh and Contreras will explore themes that resonate strongly with people of any age: trust your instincts, embrace experience as an asset, and pursue new ideas without waiting for “perfect timing.”
The Little Girls’ Guide to Entrepreneurship blends practical advice with hard-won wisdom, offering encouragement to women who may be considering a new venture, a passion project, or simply a fresh chapter. While the title nods to lessons learned early, the message is clear: it’s never too late to start something meaningful.
The Book Review Breakfast is free and open to the public; you are encouraged to bring new or gently used books to help stock the four Little Free Libraries that our branch supports. AAUW-Vero Beach is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
