United Way of Indian River County is pleased to welcome Akili Phillips as its new Director of Individual Giving, bringing more than seven years of nonprofit experience and a strong commitment to relationship-driven philanthropy.
Phillips most recently served in a leadership role at Family Promise of Brevard, where she led fundraising efforts centered on donor engagement, community partnerships, and mission-aligned giving. Throughout her career, she has supported initiatives that strengthen community connections and encourage deeper donor investment.
In her new role, Phillips will lead United Way’s individual giving strategy, working to expand donor engagement and support across Indian River County.
“Akili brings a strong understanding of how meaningful relationships and transparency build trust with donors,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “Her work will help ensure our donors clearly see the impact of their giving and how it’s making a difference across Indian River County.”
Phillips was drawn to United Way’s collaborative and innovative approach to addressing community needs and is excited to contribute to that work while helping expand the organization’s reach throughout the county.
“I’m excited to join United Way of Indian River County and be part of work that truly brings people together,” said Phillips. “I find purpose in helping people engage more deeply with the missions and communities they care about, and I look forward to bringing more individuals into giving in ways that feel tangible, impactful, and transformational.”
As Director of Individual Giving, Phillips will focus on building meaningful donor relationships and ensuring supporters have a clear understanding of how their generosity creates lasting change in the community.
