Riverside Theatre is delighted to present Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical Jr., a high-energy, heartwarming production that brings to life the beloved story of an extraordinary young girl with a vivid imagination and a courageous spirit on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 5pm.

This 60-minute musical version of the full-length Broadway show is based on the classic book by Roald Dahl.

Matilda Jr. tells the story of Matilda Wormwood, a brilliant and curious child who feels misunderstood by her family and mistreated by the tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Armed with wit, intelligence, and a touch of magic, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her own destiny—while inspiring those around her to do the same.

Packed with catchy songs, fun choreography, and a talented young cast, this production showcases the power of resilience, kindness, and the importance of standing up for what is right. Audiences of all ages will be captivated by this uplifting tale filled with humor, heart, and unforgettable characters.

Matilda JR. stars Esme Weston (Matilda), Desi Del Bianco (Eric), Zoe Shah (Amanda), Ava Lim (Bruce), Emerson Pappalardo (Alice), Analise Soltic (Hortensia), Willa Kite (Tommy), Mckenzie Bloss (Lavender), Madeline Hawkins (Nigel), Cameron Croumie (Mr. Wormwood), Emmalyn McGough (Mrs. Wormwood), Huckleberry Lubin (Michael), Pizzette Del Bianco (Agatha Trunchbull), and Linley David-Curley (Mrs. Phelps).

The rest of the cast includes: Kenzie Atkins, Zoey Atkins, Kembree Bloem, Anouk Cherubin, Attilyn Curley, Emerson Curley, Evelyn Dube, Ramani Joseph, Chiersten Kai Keegan, Jahya Kelinson, Isabelle Lim, Abigail Prescott, Madelyn Schwibner, Maya Shah, and Madison Young. 

Along with Mr. Quillinan as director, the production crew includes: Debbie Quillinan (Music Director), and Emily Olsson (Choreographer). 

Matilda JR. performs April 24, 2026 at 5pm on the Stark Stage at Riverside Theatre. Tickets are part of our “Pay What You Can” program. The program invites patrons to choose a ticket price that works for their budget, whether it’s a little or a lot, so every child and family has a chance to expereince the joy, wonder, and creativity of live theatre.
