Obituaries: October 5, 2013

Sebastian “Billy” Mure, 97, of Vero Beach passed away on September 25th, 2013. Billy Mure (born in New York on November 4, 1915) was a loving father, friend, fiancé, grandfather, great-grandfather, and world-renowned American musician. Throughout his 80+ year career he recorded several solo-albums, and worked as a session musician, composer, and arranger for stars such as Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darren, Les Paul, Perry Como, Paul Anka, Dela Reese and many more. He was named the “Legend of Guitars who rocked the fifties”” by Guitar Player’s Magazine, and was know to many as the “Supersonic Guitar Man”. Billy was commissioned to the United States Air Force by Glenn Miller, and served in World War II. During the war he played in many bands, and while in service, he met his wife of 59 years Eileen “Elaine” Kathleen Davies. After the war he found work at radio station WNEW until 1957. Billy, Elaine and their son Gary lived and worked in New York for many years before he and Elaine started spending time in Florida in 1979. During his time in Florida he played with renowned bands including the Parke Frankenfield Band. After Elaine’s passing, and in 2001, he and Debbie Brown Murphy formed the “Top Hats” band. They performed as The Top Hats, singing old favorites and originals, entertaining many all over Florida, at venues including Captain Hiram’s, Hurricane Harbor, and most recently Squid Lips and CJ Cannons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Sophia; stepmother Mary; sister, Josephine, and wife, Elaine. He is survived by his son Gary Mure, brother Vincent Mure, fiancé Debbie Brown Murphy, granddaughter Emily Mure, granddaughter Lindsay (Mure) O’Neill, and great-granddaughters, Avery and Shay O’Neill.  The family wishes to thank MEDERI CARETENDERS, and the VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach who provided loving care with great compassion. Harriet Elizabeth Page Young of Barefoot Bay passed away October 2, 2013. 
Born July 24, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, Harriet moved to Hallandale, FL in 1956, later moving to Barefoot Bay, FL in 1999. 
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Barefoot Bay, Moose Lodge #1767, the Orioles #272, the Eagles #4527, VFW #10210 life member and a member of British Club in Barefoot Bay. 

Survivors include her daughter in law, Michelle Johnson of TN; step-children Karl Young, Carol Savchuk and Janice Johnson of FL; brother, Edmund A. Page of NY; niece Sherry and nephew Edmund M. Page of NY; 5 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P Young; parents, Isabella and Charles Page; brother, John Page; son, Gregory R. Johnson and ex-husband, Raymond W. Johnson. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3375 20th St., Vero Beach 32960.
