Robert Thomas Duerigen, 77, passed away on December 10, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, Florida after a five month struggle with complications from pancreatitis. Robert (Bob) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert and Lesta Duerigen on December 13, 1935. He earned a Metallurgy Degree at the University of Cincinnati. Bob and Alice were married May 3, 1964 at the United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Bob was employed as a Metallurgist for Chrysler Foundry, International Harvester and Diamond Chain. Bob and Alice retired to Florida in 2003. Bob enjoyed Genealogy, reading, and gardening. Bob served as a Deacon and as an Elder at Southport Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana and as an Affiliate Member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, Florida. Bob served as Secretary of the Oak Chase Home Owners Association for six years. Robert is survived by his wife, Alice Burris Duerigen of Vero Beach, Florida; his three children: Cynthia Duerigen Nixon; Lucinda Duerigen Poholarz and her husband John Poholarz; Robert William Duerigen and his wife Brooke Duerigen; and his nine grandchildren: Megan Patera, Nicole Nixon, Philip Nixon III, Tiffany Nixon, Michael Nixon, Joshua Nixon, Jonathan Poholarz, Brittany Poholarz, and Drake Duerigen. Bob is survived by JazzieLynn and predeceased by Squabbles, two faithful dog companions. A Memorial Service in honor of Robert Duerigen will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church; 2555 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida. Dr. Les Koerselman will officiate and a reception will follow. An Interment service will be at the Westminster Presbyterian Memorial Garden. John A. Melville, 67, died December 10, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in Malone, New York and wintered in Sebastian, FL. He was a graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York where he received his masters degree; graduate of St. Johns University, Queens, NY where he received his bachelors. He retired from Franklin Academy, Malone, New York where he taught chemistry. He was a member of The Burke Church, Burke, NY. He was a member of the American Legion Post #219, Malone, NY; Malone Golf Club, Malone, NY; Elks Club of Sebastian and Malone NY; Past Trustee of the First Congregational Church of Malone. Survivors include wife of 46 years, Carla C. Melville of Malone NY & Sebastian; son, Eric Melville (Julie) of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Kerry Marchese (Michael) of Saugus, Massachusetts; granddaughters, Alexandria Melville of Huntsville, Alabama and Gabriella Marchese of Saugus, Massachusetts; grandson, John Melville of Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Gary Melville of Lewisville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Pelican Point Fishing Club or The Burke Church, PO Box 108, Burke, NY 12917.
