Obituaries: January 6, 2014

Robert Winfield Metz, 83, died in his sleep on December 20, 2013. His cousin Terry Greene was by his side at his final moment.  Bob is survived by his daughter Alica Metz Badger and son-in-law Peter Badger, Sister Joann Boram and her three children, Bill, Mike and Kristine, three step daughters, Lucinda O’Connell, Melinda Eubanks, Heather Brandt and son-in-law Brian. Also, six grandchildren; Christopher, Jonathan, Jennifer Badger, Parker Metz, Hannah Brandt, and Abigail Brandt.  Two great-grandchildren, Delaney Badger and Olivia McCully. He also left behind many other dear family and friends. Bob was born in Elkview, West Virginia on November 27, 1931.He attended Elkview High School.  He went on to Glenville College excelling in basketball, and then finished his BA at Morris Harvey College.   After he served in the U.S. Armed Forces he continued his education at Ohio State University for his masters and Doctorate in Science and Entomology. Senior Research Biologist for FMC in the R&D department for 35 years. After retiring he opened his own business; Sunshine State Research. He continued to be active in the Elks and the Moose Lodges. He then retired completely and continued his hobbies of gardening, fishing and remodeling houses. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and his son Scott Leonard Metz. Bob’s final remains will be interred in the Florida National Cemetery Bushnell on January 31, 2014 @ 2:30p.m.. A memorial will be held at that time for those who wish to attend. Lorianna Louise Love, 53, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away January 5, 2014 at Indian River Medical Center. She was born October 6, 1960 in Livonia, MI and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Westland, MI. Lori worked as property manager for the Sea Oaks community in Vero Beach.  She was of the Methodist faith. Lori is survived by her children, Sean Love and Kelly Love both of Vero Beach; parents, Jim and Jackie Angevine of Sebring, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Deanna Angevine of Altamonte Springs, FL; nephews, Christopher, William and Brandon Angevine of Altamonte Springs and niece, Jacqueline Angevine of Gainesville, FL. A gathering of family and friends will be held 12-1 pm, Saturday, January 11, 2014 with a memorial service to follow at 1pm at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach. PelizzaCharles Angelo Pelizza, Sr., 82, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL.  Charlie was born in Wallingford, CT and was a longtime winter visitor to Vero Beach before moving here as a full time resident six years ago from Orange, CT. Charlie served in the US Navy as a Lt JG after attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he majored in Architecture.  Following his service in the Navy, his career led him to be a partner with  Pelizza-Robinson Architects in Orange, CT until his retirement. He was a member of the Orange Rotary Club and Historical Commission in Orange, and The Navy League  and Board of Directors of Caledon Shores in Vero Beach.  He was an avid reader and golfer, but fishing was his number one love for which he tied his own flies and built his own rods. Survivors include wife of 54 years Valerie A. Pelizza, sons Charles A. Pelizza, Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Wellington, FL and Carl F. Pelizza and his wife Eli of East Point, GA, grandchildren Sierra and Kai Pelizza of Wellington and Ona Pelizza of East Point. Robert H. Stewart, 55, died January 3, 2014 at his residence in Sebastian. He was born in Fairfax County, Virginia and lived in Sebastian since 2006 coming from Maryland. He was an automobile mechanic and had worked at Central Garage in Vero Beach. Survivors include daughter Megan Stewart of Palm Bay, son Carl J.
