atleeDoris Day Attlee, 93, died January 13, 2014 at her home in Vero Beach. Mrs. Attlee was born in Plainfield, NJ and lived in Vero Beach for 60 years coming from Watchung, NJ. Mrs. Attlee was a graduate of North Plainfield High School, North Plainfield, NJ Class of 1938. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Attlee was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Indian River County Welfare Department. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach. She was a member of the Aware and Pairs and Spares Sunday School Classes at First Methodist. Mrs. Attlee was a life member of the Indian River Garden Club, the Vero Beach Women’s Club, the Vero Beach Lions Club and the VFW in North Plainfield, NJ. She was a volunteer at Riverside Theater, was a member of the Indian River Memorial Hospital Lady’s Auxiliary and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Mrs. Attlee enjoyed many activities which included bowling, archery and both roller and ice skating. Survivors include her daughters, Sharandee Attlee (Runge) and Janine A. McCall (Michael L.) both of Vero Beach; granddaughters, Shayla Runge Hobbs (David) and their children Cole and Ashton of Hallam, PA and Tawnya McCall Timmel (Michael) and their children John Michael, Emma, Katharine and Luke of Gotha, FL; grandsons, Joshua Runge (Shannon) and their children, Jacob, Gracie and Gage of Marble, NC and M. Jeremy McCall (Dana) and their children Rachel, Kayla, Marissa and Abigail of Murfreesboro, TN. Mrs. Attlee was preceded in death by her husband V. Thomas “Tom” Attlee. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1750 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Mrs. Attlee. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with Dr. Jeff Stiggins officiating. John H. Brennan (Pa), 68, of New Canaan, CT and Vero Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly January 10th at his home in Vero Beach. 

He graduated from New Canaan High School, attended Norwalk Community College and was a Navy Vet serving during the Vietnam War. 

John retired from Southern New England Telephone Company after 31 years in 1999 so he could spend more time with his family and do some traveling. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Jane Kelly Brennan; loving children, daughter Sara Rilling (John) and their children Cody Tyler and Kyle of Vero Beach, FL, son John (Gina) and their son Cole of Bethel, CT, and sister Barbara Stewart of New Canaan, CT. 

A Memorial Service will be held on January 25, 2014 at 10:00AM at the United Methodist Church, 165 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT.

Bernadette Shea, 87, of Barefoot Bay, FL died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian. Bernadette was born in the Bronx, NY and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1992 from Hicksville, NY. She attended the St. Luke Catholic Church in Micco, FL and had worked for Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, later Grumman Aerospace Corporation, a leading 20th century U.S. producer of military and civilian aircraft located Bethpage, NY. Bernadette was an avid golfer and bowler. She is survived by her sister-in-law Dolores C. Shea of Barefoot Bay, and nieces and nephews Daniel, Maureen, Gerard, William, Pat and Denise Shea. She was preceded in death by her brothers William and Edward Shea. Services: The family will receive friends 3-5 PM, Friday January 17, 2014 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian, Florida with a Prayer Service beginning at 4:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday January 18, 2014 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Barefoot Bay, Florida. Bernadette will be transferred to the Noland & Taylor Funeral Home in Northport, NY for final services and interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
