JUDY ORCUTT
Congratulations to the Indian River Shores Town Council! Today the council voted to pass a strong Fertilizer Ordinance which is consistent with those in the City of Vero Beach and the unincorporated portions of Indian River County. The important components of these ordinances are: a ban on the application of fertilizer during the summer rainy season from June 1st through September 30th, the requirement of at least 50% slow release Nitrogen and 0% Phosphorus fertilizer, and the restriction from fertilizer application within 10 feet of any waterbody. The consistency of these ordinances will make public education and the training of the landscape professionals much simpler.
