NEWS RELEASE

Students from Classical Conversations, a national organization of home-schooled students, were recentlytaught about ocean and beach safety at South Beach Park by Tim Capra, Vice President of the Vero Beach Lifeguard Associaton.

“We are happy to volunteer our time to local groups and students”, replied Mr Capra who has taught this particular group for the past three years.

Classical Conversations was developed 20 years ago to educate children using the classical approach in a Christian setting. They meet once a week in a classroom with trained tutors who introduce the new “grammar”, or information for seven different subjects. Parents then follow the model throughout the week for each of the subjects.

“We wish a water safety class was part of the public school curriculum. Most of the rescues lifeguards make invlolve kids and young adults who don’t understand or were never taught about the power of the ocean”, added Capra.

Renee Boesch, Classical Coversations Vero Beach Director commented, ” We appreciate Tim’s energy and willingness to share his knowledge with our kids! We fully support our local lifeguards and several of our children are looking into the Juniior Lifeguard program this summer.
