VERO BEACH INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL – The Vero Beach International Music Festival will take place Wednesday, July 6th through Friday, July 15th at the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach (520 Royal Palm Boulevard). This one-of-a-kind festival will feature performances by world-class musicians and singers in Americana, Rock, Celtic, World, and Jazz, as well as local and international students from the Mike Block String Camp. All performances are open to the public and free, with suggested donation of $20, which goes directly to the MBSC Scholarship Fund.  The festival schedule can be found online at verobeachinternationalmusicfestival.com.

– 
Riverside Theatre presents  Howl at The Moon Experience,   a high-energy music show on Friday & Saturday, July 8 & 9.  Musicians John Kenney and  Rob Volpe will  perform favorite songs from 80’s rock, 90’s pop, and today’s dance hits on dueling pianos with shows at 7:30 and 9:30 pm.   Free live music featuring The Smoking Jackets on Friday and Kilt the Messenger on Saturday will play the Live In The Loop Outdoor Stage prior to each performance.  Buy tickets ($16, $18, $20, $22)  by calling the Box Office at 772-231-6990.

weekend - Karren WalterINTRO TO LATIN DANCE AT THEATRE GUILD – The Vero Beach Theatre Guild will be presenting “Evita” on stage in November and is offering Intro to Latin Dance, a two-day workshop on July 9 and 10, at the Theatre Guild.  The two day workshop will be taught by Karren Walter, this year’s only “Dancing With the Vero Stars” instructor who garnered a perfect 10.  She will also be Evita’s choreographer.  Evita auditions are July 17th, 24th and 25th.  This workshop will be excellent preparation for those who wish to audition.  Participants must be 15 or older to participate and the cost per person for both days of instruction is only $10.  Day one, Saturday, July 9th from 10 am to 2 pm teaches the basics of Rhumba, Salsa, Tango, Cha Cha and others.  Day two, Sunday, July 10th from 2 pm to 6 pm, expands on the variety of dances and reinforces technique.  Register online at verobeachtheatreguild.com.

SUNDAY JULY 10

PASTA WITH A PURPOSE AT ELKS LODGE – The Vero Beach Elks Lodge presents “Pasta with a Purpose” on Sunday, July 10 from 4-8 PM.  Join them for an evening of Everything Italian including fun “Italian-themed” games and activities followed by fresh, made-on-site dinner provided by Carrabba’s.  $25 adults, $15 children.  All attendees get a coupon for a free appetizer at Carrabba’s.  $3,500 of monies raised will be used to send 50 disadvantaged children to the Florida Elks Youth Summer Camp.  Games include Shuffle Board Pizza, Meatball Golf, Pepperoni Ring Toss, Noodle PickUp, Egg Roll, Meatball Plunk-O and many more.  For tickets, call 772-562-8450.

 

weekend - under-the-tuscan-sun-xlgFREE MOVIE SUNRISE THEATRE – The Sunrise Theatre will screen a free movie on July 10 at 3 pm.  Bring a friend, escape the summer heat, treat yourself to some goodies at our full concession stand and have a great time!  The movie on Sunday is Under The Tuscan Sun,  starring Diane Lane, Raoul Bova and Sandra Oh.  Tickets are available in person only at the theatre’s box office located at 117 South Second Street, Ft. Pierce, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and two hours prior to each movie.  Limit 4 tickets per person.  Tickets are subject to availability. Call 772-461-4775.

weekend - Poster - Forbidden Planet_03NEW FILM SERIES AT THE MUSEUM OF ART – The Vero Beach Museum of Art is offering a new film studies program, Spacing Out: Film Travels in Outer Space, with classes meeting on Tuesdays at 7 pm from July 19 through August 9.  Inspired by the summer exhibition Out of this World: The Art and Artists of NASA, this program will feature movies about outer space both early films and more recent ones, to see how they have influenced today’s movie industry, especially the sci-fi genre.
