Now in its seventh year, this jazzy offering is a fresh interpretation of the holiday classic set to a swinging score by Duke Ellington. This Nutcracker has become a Vero Beach tradition. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17

weekend-image013The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department presents its annual performing arts holiday production, “Santa Who?” on Saturday, December 17 with shows at 2 pm and 6 pm at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. A rock climbing mishap has left poor Santa with amnesia. What will happen to Christmas? Find the answer by joining the 200-student Aerial Antics Youth Circus cast of performing arts students from Leisure Square as they tell the tale of Santa Who? Advance tickets are available at Leisure Square and Riverside Racquet Complex. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Admission donations are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for children and seniors. SATURDAY & SUNDAY, DECEMBER 17 & 18

Two free performances of George Frideric Handel’s sacred oratorio “Messiah” will be presented on December 17 and 18 at 7 pm by the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and will feature Becky Loar as the soprano soloist. Becky is a native of Vero Beach with a national reputation as a Christian music singer and teacher.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18

weekend-star-wars-conductor-aaron-collins-with-musiciansThe Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will perform STAR WARS, a special concert at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, on Sunday, December 18 at 3:00 pm The performance will feature the music from all seven previous films in the Star Wars film series, written by composer John Williams for a galaxy far, far away. Presented with images on the big screen, the year’s most exciting concert will include iconic fan favorites– whether your loyalties lie with the Rebel Troops or the Imperial Forces. Star Wars fans of all ages are welcome to dress in costume. Tickets purchased through the symphony website or authorized ticket outlets are priced at $29.99 for adults and $14.99 for ages 7-18 (add five dollars for tickets at the door). Children six and under are free. Please note: Season subscription passes do not include admission to the STAR WARS concert.
