Rowing club 10,000 meter ‘Erg-A-Thon’ Feb. 11

More than 60 student athletes to participate in the 10K Erg-a-thon in Vero Beach

NEWS RELEASE

Vero Beach Rowing is organizing their third annual Erg-a-thon on Saturday, February 11th at Vero Strength + Conditioning from noon to 2:00pm.  Each participating high school level rower will row 10,000 meters on a rowing machine called an ‘erg’ to help raise funds for the construction of a new community boathouse and rowing facility at MacWilliam Park, an area with calmer waters and ideal for rowing activities.

This year’s goal is to raise $10,000, and a GoFundMe page has been set up for donations as follows:  https://www.gofundme.com/ns-vero-beach-rowing-ergathon.

“This is our big annual fundraising event propelled by our student athletes, and we’ve had great success with it,” said Vero Beach Rowing Director & Head Coach Gary Marra. “It’s inspiring to see all our junior rowers devoted to the fundraising process and our ultimate goal of building a state-of-the-art boathouse for the entire community to enjoy.”

Friends of Vero Beach Rowing, businesses, and rowing supporters are welcome to stop by to see the action on Saturday, February 11th from noon to 2:00pm at Vero Strength + Conditioning at 760 8th Ct #4, Vero Beach, as well as make a donation via the GoFundMe link provided here: https://www.gofundme.com/ns-vero-beach-rowing-ergathon.  Every dollar counts!

Apart from the gracious support of Vero Strength + Conditioning (www.verostrength.com) who is providing the venue free of charge, local eatery La Tabla (www.latablavero.com) will be donating freshly pressed juices for the athletes throughout the arduous 10K sessions.

The Vero Beach High School Rowing Team has had enormous success during this past fall season, participating in four regattas around the state and bringing home a total of ten gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals.  Not resting on their laurels, the team has been training tirelessly over the holidays and in January to prepare for a very competitive spring season which also begins in February.
