Thanks to a small group of generous donors, The Buggy Bunch has chosen a building in a strategic downtown “Old Vero” location to serve as its headquarters. The new Vero Beach Family Education Center will allow The Buggy Bunch to expand infrastructure to meet the demand for new and targeted family programming.

“Every single aspect of The Buggy Bunch will drastically improve by the addition of the Vero Beach Family Education Center,” says Executive Director Kelly Sartain. Renovations planned for the iconic building located at 1450 21st Street in downtown Vero Beach include spaces for young children to play and learn while moms attend classes, meet with mentors, and gain tools to enrich their homes and family lives. An expanded Diaper Closet will help struggling moms meet the physical needs of their children. Educational Play Space will employ intentional research-based strategies for early child- hood learning. Existing infrastructure will utilize conference rooms, staff offices, and even a commercial teaching kitchen.

Although The Buggy Bunch will still host events in municipal parks and existing churches, the new building will serve as dedicated space for consistent engagement with families. “We have now, proudly, grown to a size… that it is prudent and necessary to obtain our own space in order to continue on our path of expansion to reach all moms in Indian River County,” says Rebecca Schlitt, Chair of the Board of Trustees. The new building, which is set to open its doors in 2018, will pro- vide more opportunities to discover and meet urgent needs in our community. A $2,000,000 project, The Buggy Bunch has already raised over $850,000 and will pay cash for the purchase. The closing date is set for 1/30. Anyone interested in contributing to the building fund can contact Kelly Sartain at info@thebuggybunch.com or https://app.etapestry.com/online…/TheBuggyBunch/capcamp.html
