Riverside Theatre presents Mame, from March 7 through 29.  Mame Dennis is a larger-than-life personality living the high life in the Roaring Twenties in New York City.  Patrick, her orphaned 10-year-old nephew, comes to live with her and she introduces him to an eccentric lifestyle and madcap cast of characters.  When the stock market crashes and Mame loses her fortune, she tries, with comically disastrous results, to find a job for the first time in her life, but perseveres with humor and style.  For tickets, visit RiversideTheatre.com.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild presents the musical comedy, “The Pajama Game,” from Thursday, March 9 through Sunday, March 26.  Set in 1950’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory, this comedic, fast paced story focuses on the stormy and romantic relationship between feisty union rep, Babe Williams, and the new factory superintendent, Sid Sorokin.  “The Pajama Game” opens Thursday, March 9, and runs through Sunday, March 26, with six matinees and nine evening performances.  Tickets are $28 and $30, students under 18 half price, and can be purchased by calling 562-8300 or online at verobeachtheatreguild.com.

THURSDAY, MARCH 9

The film In Marjorie’s Wake: A River in Time will be shown on Thursday, March 9, from 2-3 p.m. at the North Indian River County Library tracing the 1933 journey of author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Dessie Smith on the St. Johns River as described in Cross Creek. Free.

IRCHS EXHIBIT OPENS AT THE FOYER GALLERY

The Foyer Gallery of Art at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue, will present art work by the Portfolio Class which consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Indian River Charter High School.  The “Meet the Artists” event will be held on Thursday, March 9 from 5 to 7 pm.  The show is on view until April 29. The Atlantic Classical Orchestra will perform Masterworks III – Postcards on Thursday, March 9 at 7:30 pm at the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts on Saint Edwards School Campus.  Pieces include: Rossini Semiramide Overture; Conrad Tao Piano Concerto (world premier) with Rappaport Prizewinner Conrad Tao, Composer and Pianist; and Dvorak Symphony No. 9 in E minor “From the New World”.  For ticket information call the ACO office at 772-460-0850.

Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce presents Concerts in the Park on Friday, March 10 featuring the Sebastian River High School Jazz Ensemble & Steel Drum Band at Riverview Park beginning at 5:30 pm.  Free.

The Indian River Symphonic Association presents the Brevard Symphony Orchestra on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 pm at Community Church of Vero Beach. The Vero Beach Art Club’s annual Under the Oaks Fine Art & Crafts Festival will be held in Riverside Park Friday through Sunday, March 10 – 12.  Drawing top professional artists from all over the county, the festival will feature extraordinary works in a variety of media.  Free.

SATURDAY, MARCH 11

The Treasure Coast Jazz Society will present Tom Hook and the Terrier Brothers in concert on March 11 at  12:30 pm at the Plaza, 884 17th Street in Vero Beach. The Terrier Brothers members are Tom Hook, piano/leader, Bobby Durham, Eddie Metz, and Pat Gullotta.  Opening for them will be The Standards, a 3 piece Jazz Combo made up of Vero Beach High School talent, Ian Lazan, Jonny Medina and Alex Weyand. SUNDAY,  MARCH 12

Theatre-Go-Round Dinner Theatre has opened it’s new show, Riverboats & Ragtime, A musical excursion down the ol’ Mississippi.  Shows are on Sundays, March 12, 19, 26; April 2, 9, 23, 30 & May 7.  Enjoy a gourmet dinner at the Quilted Giraffe with doors opening at 4:30 pm and the show at 6 pm.  The all-inclusive price is $55 per person.  For tickets, call the box office at 772-252-9341.

Riverside Theatre presents the Distinguished Lecturer Series:  Sir Salmon Rushdie on Monday, March 13 at 4 and 6 pm.  In this talk, Rushdie will discuss fundamental freedoms and the attack they face both from religious extremism and from political correctness.
