State softball finals on now at Historic Dodgertown

NEWS RELEASE

Semi-Finals today, finals tomorrow at Historic Dodgertown.

The top high school softball teams in the State of Florida will converge onto Historic Dodgertown to compete for the Florida State Championship in each of the nine (9) respective classifications. Regional Finals have concluded around the state to determine which high schools have advanced to the State Softball Finals. This four-day event will include 36 teams competing in semi-final rounds on Wednesday and Friday then championship rounds Thursday and Saturday.

This is the first year of a new three-year agreement with the FHSAA, which is proudly hosted by the Treasure Coast Sports Commission, Historic Dodgertown, Indian River County Parks and Recreation, Indian River County, and St. Lucie West Centennial High School.

“The Treasure Coast Sports Commission is excited to host the 2017 FHSAA Softball Finals. 36 of the best teams in the state, along with their families, friends and supporters will be coming to Indian River County for an experience of a lifetime. The ultimate goal of hosting this event is to highlight Indian River County as a premier sports paradise. Although the Treasure Coast Sports Commission is the host organization, putting this all together has truly been a team effort. Without the support from Indian River County Parks and Recreation, Indian River County, Historic Dodgertown, St. Lucie West Centennial High School and many Athletic Directors on the Treasure Coast hosting this event would not be possible” states Rick Hatcher, Executive Director of the Treasure Coast Sports Commission.

Admission for the event is $12 per day, while parking is $10 per car and $25 per bus. Semi-final games (Wednesday and Friday) will be streamed on the National Federation of High School Sports website plus championship games (Thursday and Saturday) will be broadcasted live by Spectrum Sports Network. Food and beverage at Historic Dodgertown concessions will be available throughout the event.
