Join Certified Laughter Leader, Nancy Johnson for “Laugh & Learn” (LAL) on Thursday, October 19 at 10:30 am at the North Indian River County Library.  Start your day with laughter and a positive attitude!


Dr. Nina Dockery will present Magical Ways of Releasing Negativity as the guest speaker at  the Thursday, October 19th meeting of Women, Wine and Wellness at Regency Park, 901 Regency Square in Vero Beach.  This meeting to be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and  includes appetizers and a glass of wine.  The cost is $15 per person. Enjoy learning some very specific techniques in a fun environment to help clear negative emotions: anger, fear, frustration, anxiety and the like, and will be working individually – no stories or words needed! The Environmental Learning Center continues “Eco Talk Speaker Series” on Saturday, October 21 at 11 am.   Diane Morgan, Adjunct Professor, Indian River State College & Wilson College will discuss Myths & Amazing Facts about Manatees. Mistaken for mermaids, eaten by pioneers, loved by children, and saving lives in the 21st century, manatees are fascinating marine mammals who need our attention and conservation efforts. The H.A.L.O. No-Kill Animal Shelter celebrates its 11th year with H.A.L.O’s Hoedown on Saturday, October 21 from 7 to 10 pm at the  Indian River County Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Avenue in Vero Beach. The Laura Riding Jackson Foundation presents a Teen Writers Workshop, “Blogging Basics Your passion..your words…your story…your way” on Saturday, October 21 from 1 to 4 pm.  This workshop is free for teens grades 9 through 12.  Visit to sign up.

Dogs For Life 16th Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Pawrade will be at the DFL Dog Park located at 1230 16th Avenue in Vero Beach. Enjoy this free event on Saturday, October 21. Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach will present a Reformation Hymn Festival on Sunday, October 22 at 4 pm.  This free event will feature the choirs of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Advent Lutheran Church and will allow audience participation in the singing of favorite hymns dating back hundreds of years. “It don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that swing.”  The popular song lyric sums up the mindset of concert-goers to Big Band Favorites, the latest concert offering by the Space Coast Symphony JAZZ Orchestra.  The group will swing three decades of Big Band Era hits at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 22 at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The JAZZ Orchestra’s play list will feature selections from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington and more.  Jazz vocalist and recording artist, Lisa Kelly will join the group to sing Big Band Favorites.  $20 advance tickets are available at  $25 at the door.  The concert is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.
