Lee G. Smith is currently exhibiting her rollup paintings  in the main lobby of the Emerson Center. The rollup paintings are seascapes and  paintings of the Indian River Lagoon.

Public Art Exhibits, sponsored by the Cultural Council of Indian River County, includes an exhibit of vibrant abstract paintings by Chitra Ramanathan at the Courthouse, 2000 16th Avenue in Vero Beach as well as a variety of artwork by Cultural Council Artist Registry members at the Indian River County Administration,  1801 27th Street in Vero Beach.  Viewing hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

THURSDAY, MAY 17

The 2nd Annual Juried Art Exhibit sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women is now on view at the Foyer Gallery of Art in the Emerson Center.  “Meet the Artists” night will be on Thursday, May 17 from 5 to 7 pm when  awards  will be presented.  The exhibit will be on view through June 27.

Laugh & Learn with Nancy Johnson at the North Indian River County Library on Thursday, May 17 at 10:30 am.  Start your day on a positive note!

Comedy Zone Experience – with comedians Max Dolcelli and Ken Miller with shows at 7:30 and 9:30 pm Friday & Saturday, May 18 & 19.  Tickets $16-$18.

Live in the Loop “Boots & Brews” Theme Party – Free outdoor concerts beginning at 6 pm with country bands, Crooked Creek on Friday and  Casey Raines Band on Saturday.

Riverside Theatre Education’s Spring Dance Recital – A celebration of dance performed by students of the Dance Conservatory of Riverside Theatre on Thursday & Friday, May 17 & 18 at 7 pm.  Tickets are $10.  For tickets, visit RiversideTheatre.com.

IN CONCERT AT RIVERVIEW PARK

The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce presents the Bobby Owen Band performing country, blues & oldies on Friday, May 18 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at Riverview Park.  Bring lawn chairs & blanket to this free concert. Food and refreshments will be available.

Seriously Mixed Media, 207 Orange Avenue In Fort Pierce is featuring a show titled “Black, White & _____ All Over” with an opening reception on Friday, May 18  during the Fort Pierce Art Walk from 5 to 8 pm.

 

SATURDAY,  MAY 19

The Environmental Learning Center’s Eco Talks Speaker Series continues on Saturday, May 19 at 11 am with the topic “Invasive Plants, Bringing Native Plants Back to Florida” with Geraldo Maldonaldo, invasive plant removal specialist.  Register at DiscoverELC.org or call (772) 589-5050.

Popular Vero Beach author Alan Wolford will be appearing on Saturday, May 19 at the Oceanside Farmers Market to autograph his sought-after Vero Beach mystery/suspense thriller “The Queen of South Beach” and talk about his new screenplay.

The Environmental Learning Center has  Pelican Island Pontoon Boat Trips every Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Enjoy a beautiful ride past Pelican Island with an on board Naturalist who’ll tell you all about all the wildlife you’ll see. We’ll even supply binoculars so you’ll get a closer look! The Treasure Coast Rock & Gem Society will have it’s Annual Picnic with the Ft. Pierce Club at the White City Methodist Church,  810 Midway Road in  Ft. Pierce on Sunday, May 20th at 12 noon.  Please bring a covered dish for 8 and a drink of your choice.  The Ft.
