“Val Zudans, Harry Howle and Lange Sykes may not be seeking to enrich developers – and themselves. Perhaps they are simply limited government extremists, who enter City Council meetings armed with ideologically explosive vests strapped to their chests.”
A quick read of Ray McNulty’s latest column in the island weekly suggests the former “journalist” has made the painful and life-changing transition from responsible reporter to so-called “advocacy journalists.”
Working, as he does, for a publisher with close ties to Indian River Shores, McNunty is about as free to speak his own mind as are the former “journalists” at Sinclair Broadcasting, as well as at Fox News. You have to feel for McNulty. There was a time when he worked for a newspaper that practiced serious, responsible journalism. No longer!
In his latest column, McNulty claims to know the mind of each and every member of the Vero Beach City Council. “Nobody here wants to see Vero to stop being Vero. And that includes the members of our City Council,” McNulty wrote.
For the sake of argument, let us assume McNulty received assurances from each member of the Vero Beach City Council that current moves to sell the City’s remaining enterprise funds are not designed to put Vero Beach in a desperate financial position where it would have to be absorbed by the County. How can “journalist” McNulty assume such claims of benign intent are true? Does McNulty no longer take a dose of journalistic skepticism each morning? Apparently not!
Protestations of innocence by FPL-bought Zudans, Howle and Sikes may very well be true. For sure, it could be that FPL’s representatives on the City Council are not seeking to enrich developers – and themselves. Perhaps they are simply limited government extremists, who enter City Council meetings armed with ideologically explosive vests strapped to their chests.
Fox News’ Sean Hannity claims to know the mind of President TRUMP – and, given Hannity’s regular evening chats with TRUMP, the Fox News ‘journalist’ could very well know the “President’s” mind.
Is so-called journalist McNulty engaging the same kind of regular pillow talk with members of the Vero Beach City Council? Let us hope not.
