NEWS RELEASE
On Friday, June 1st at 3:00 pm, investigators with the Fellsmere Police Department and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 12945 100th Lane in Fellsmere as part of joint investigation regarding drug sales at that location.
Information obtained during the course of that investigation led investigators to believe that the sales were carried out by persons who also possessed or had immediate access to firearms when making those sales, necessitating the need for the Sheriff’s SWAT team to enter the residence prior to serving the warrant. Entry was made without incident.
As a result of the search, investigators seized the following weapons:
One Springfield M1 Rifle
One Remington .22 rifle
One Anderson AR15 .556/.223
One Taurus .38 Special
One Charter Arms .38 Special
A variety of ammunition for AR-10 rifles
Arrested were:
Christopher Rodriguez: possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of probation for a prior felony offense. Heriberto Gamez: possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of legend drug without prescription, violation of probation for a prior felony offense.
One other person was detained during the execution of the warrant but was later released. This investigation is ongoing.
