On July 1st the Foyer Gallery of Art, located at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue, Vero Beach, opened a new exhibit of figurative works by Ida Y. Robles, a self-taught local artist with an emphasis on portraiture.   Her Exhibit can be seen daily from 10 am to 4 pm Monday – Friday and on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm. The Exhibit will run through August 31.

The  Galleries at First Pres present members and friends of First Presbyterian Church to display samplings of their artwork in a Summer Art Fair. Up to nine different artists will be featured in the exhibits beginning July 8, running until September 30. An opening reception will be held Sunday, July 15 from 3 pm to 5 pm throughout the campus of First Presbyterian Church at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach.

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery is shifting to its summer schedule of public hours. The Museum will be open to the public Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm and Sundays 12 Noon to 4 pm.   This summer the Museum will offer free admission on Sunday, July 1 and Sunday, August 5 as part of its Free Admission Days on the first Sundays of the month. The Museum’s summer schedule will continue through Sunday, August 12, then closing to prepare for the upcoming new season.  Visit



The City of Sebastian’s 46th Annual 4th of July Parade will be held on Wednesday, July 4th at 8:30 am. The parade will begin at the Sebastian Community Center and the Sebastian Masonic Lodge at 1805 Jackson Street proceeding East on Davis Street and South of Indian River Drive to Riverview Park. Following the parade, there will be festivities in the park. Live entertainment, food, craft booths, vendors, etc. Fireworks at dusk.

The City of Vero Beach’s 4th of July Celebration will be at Riverside Park from 4 pm to 10 pm. Bring your blankets and chairs, enjoy live music, childrens activities as well as food & drink.  Fireworks are at dusk.


The Oceanside Business Association is holding a Sidewalk Sale for the businesses on and around Ocean Drive in Vero Beach on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7.

Visit the galleries in downtown Vero Beach during the First Friday Gallery Stroll on Friday, July 6 from 5 to 8 pm to see the new exhibits. Here’s a preview:    Gallery 14’s exhibit is Potpourri 3: A Retrospective by Gallery 14 Artists.  The Artists Guild Gallery is featuring the surreal paintings of Ambrus Diossy.  Main Street Vero Beach’s guest artist is photographer Kevin Mitchell and Flametree Clay Gallery’s theme is Red, White and Blue!  Raw Space Gallery will present a performance art piece, What does your Yoga look like? Featuring the Indian River yoga community’s teachers and stake holders from 6:30 to 9 pm. 


Join H.A.L.O. at the Indian River Mall on Saturday, July 7th from 11 am to 4 pm for “Artisans at the Mall”  arts & crafts event to support H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue and local artisans.  Unique, one-of-a kind handcrafted items will be displayed by a wide variety of vendors. Be sure to stop by the H.A.L.O. Adoption Center in the Mall (near Sears and Victoria’s Secret) to visit with all the beautiful and deserving kittens & cats waiting for their furever home! H.A.L.O. has also partnered with LOVE OF PAWS for a cat food drive. Donations of dry and canned cat food can be dropped off during the event and through the month of September).



Remember when movies were classics, and the Sunrise Theatre was the place to be? Well, this summer they are back on the Big Screen and FREE! On Sundays: July 8, 22 and August 5,12,19 and 26 at 3:00 pm.  Bring a friend, escape the summer heat, treat yourself to some goodies at the full concession stand.  Sunday, July 8 movie is Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s new show, The Dixie Swim Club, opens on Tuesday, July 10. Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. The Dixie Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years.   Performances will be from Tuesday, July 10 through Sunday, July 22. for tickets.

The Cultural Council’s Art of Networking will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 10 at the Patio Seafood Tavern.  Enjoy networking with others who support the arts and learn about the plans for the Celebrate the Arts Festival to be held in Riverside Park on January 5th.  Free for Cultural Council members, $5 for guests.

Tuesday,   July 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm attend a fundraiser for the Cultural Arts Village at Post & Vine, 1919 14th Avenue in Vero Beach.  Enjoy appetizers, buffet dinner, dessert and two adult beverages for $75.  Visit for tickets.

Wednesday, August 8 beginning at 5:30 pm, support our young veterans by purchasing original art at A Bond Unbroken Art Auction at the Heritage Center.
