FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY STROLL THIS WEEKEND
Visit the galleries in downtown Vero Beach during the First Friday Gallery Stroll on Friday, August 3 from 5 to 8 pm to see the new exhibits. Here’s a preview: Gallery 14’s exhibit is Sweeney: Spread the Love. This month-long festival of the artist’s work will benefit The Childrens Home Society Transitional home. Attendees at the August Reception will be able to buy a raffle ticket to win a 30 x 40 inch piece created by the artist, entitled Stretched Heart (upper left image). All proceeds from the raffle will go to the charitable organization. The Artists Guild Gallery continues exhibiting the surreal paintings of Ambrus Diossy (above right), Main Street Vero Beach features guest artist, Keri Keene, and Flametree Clay Gallery’s theme is From the Sea (lower right). Raw Space Gallery will present Cyclops: Unforgettable Dreamers, showcasing paintings by Peruvian artist Jose Antonio Torres.

Join H.A.L.O. No Kill Rescue for its 2nd Annual Meows & Mutts at the Marsh on Friday, August 3 beginning at 6:30 pm at Marsh Landing Restaurant in Fellsmere. For the entire month of August, Marsh Landing is serving up signature cocktails and menu items with proceeds benefiting the rescues of HALO. August 3 is the for a kick-off party including a 50/50 raffle and live bluegrass music. Visit the entire month of August but be sure to return on August 31st at 6:30 pm for H.A.L.O.’s grand finale! Every Friday night through the month of August, One Zen Place, 4005 43rd Avenue, Suite #4, in Vero Beach presents In the Moment, an art and music performance at 7 pm. These are live performances by artist/art historian Amy Dyson and pianist/composer John Ryan. Original music and fine art merge to create a one-of-a-kind audio and visual experience. Every Saturday morning, author Alan Wolford will be at the Oceanside Farmers Market from 8:30 am to 11:45 am. He will present his books, autograph purchased copies and answer questions. Recent books he has written are: The Dealership, Condo Commandeaux and The Queen of South Beach.
JOIN US FOR A BOND UNBROKEN NEXT WEDNESDAY
Support the Next Generation Veterans and the Cultural Council as they pay tribute to Vietnam War Veterans on Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30 to 8 pm at the Heritage Center. Clips from the documentary, A Bond Unbroken, will be shown as well as Vietnam-themed artwork by local artists that will be auctioned. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar. All Vietnam Veterans are invited as guests (complimentary).

Introduction to Genealogy classes will be offered by the Indian River Genealogical Society at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach. The class is FREE to the public, but you must sign up at least 3 days before the first class. This 3 Session Class will be held on August 11, August 18, and August 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
