ATTENTION ARTISTS:  FOYER GALLERY OF ART TO SCHEDULE SHOWS BEGINNING IN OCTOBER

Foyer Gallery of Art at the Emerson Center in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, 1590 27th Avenue is seeking  2D artists of all mediums to exhibit their original artwork for a period of two months during the 2018/2019 Season.  Preferred themes are:  Natural, Environmental, Nautical, Local, Celebrating Vero Beach’s Centennial Anniversary in 2019, Modern, Abstract.   Send 5 images of artwork with title, medium & dimensions to be exhibited to:  Dawn Orre: dawnorre@gmail.com by September 15, 2018  along with your contact information and a short bio. About the Gallery – There is no fee to exhibit. Commission on sales of artwork is 30%.

DOWNTOWN FRIDAY THIS WEEK!

“Get your motor running” at Main Street Vero Beach’s Downtown Friday – Bike Night Edition on August 25 from   6 pm to 9 pm on 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach.  Enjoy music, food, drinks, kids’ activities, and support the local charity of the month. In addition, a Family Friendly Bike ride is scheduled each Downtown Friday evening with the Vero Beach Cycling Club.  This event is FREE to attend. For information, call 772-643-6782.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

H.A.L.O.’S ARTISANS AT THE MALL

Join H.A.L.O.  No Kill Rescue at the Indian River Mall on Saturday, September 1st from 11 am to 4 pm for an arts & crafts event to support H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue and local artisans.  Beautiful handcrafted items will be displayed by a wide variety of vendors. Be sure to stop by the H.A.L.O. Adoption Center in the Mall (near Sears and Victoria’s Secret) to visit with all the deserving kittens & cats waiting for their furever home! H.A.L.O. has also partnered with LOVE OF PAWS for a cat food drive. Donations of dry and canned cat food can be dropped off during the event (which runs through September). Purina or Friskies brand food is preferred, but all donations will be graciously accepted.  For more information, please contact H.A.L.O. FREE FILM AT NORTH LIBRARY

Join Joseph Gramm at 2 p.m., on Thursday, September 6th, at the North Indian River County Library for “Classic Films with a Twist,” which includes a full-length showing of a feature film followed by discussion and a trivia contest with prizes and refreshments.  Admission is free and open to the public at this program sponsored by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library.  The Library is located at 1001 Sebastian Boulevard in Sebastian.  For more information please call (772) 589-1355 or check online at www.friendsncl.org.

Introduction to Genealogy classes will be offered by the Indian River Genealogical Society at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street in Vero Beach.   The class is FREE to the public, but you must sign up at least 3 days before the first class.     3 Session Class (September 8th, September 15th and September 21st) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  Sign up in the main library or call (772)444-7470.  The sign-up sheet for this class is on the IRGS table across from the elevator on the second floor.  For more information, please visit www.irgs.org.

Registration is now open   at the Vero Beach Museum of  Art for the Film Studies Program, Declaration of INDIE-pendents: Exploring the World of Indie Films, beginning October 9th. Classes are offered at 1:30 and 7 pm on Tuesdays through November 6.   Visit verobeachmuseum.org to sign up ($75/$90).

The Center for Spiritual Care, 1550 24 Street is hosting a Transcendental Meditation presentation on Friday September 7th at 7 pm with Nancy & Sue Dudley. The most effective meditation technique is also the easiest to learn and most enjoyable to practice.  Widely studied at medical schools and research institutes, benefits of TM include eliminating stress and anxiety and developing creativity, focus and memory.  Donations are appreciated.  Call 772-567-1233.

Pick up your copies of the new 2018-19 Art & Cultural Guide on Tuesday, September 11 at the   Cultural Council’s Art of Networking to be held from 5 to 7 pm at the Blue Star Brasserie, 2227 14th Avenue in Vero Beach.  Enjoy networking in a Happy Hour atmosphere.
