Historic Dodgertown’s Labor Day Beach Bash youth tournament to welcome more than 55 teams with their families, from across the state and Georgia

NEWS RELEASE

Vero Beach and the surrounding region can look forward to welcoming a large number of enthusiastic visitors this weekend. Historic Dodgertown, Indian River County and the Treasure Coast Sports Commission are hosting the annual Labor Day Beach Bash youth baseball tournament, and with more than 55 teams registered from across the state and Georgia, Vero Beach will see more than 1,800 visitors just for the holiday weekend, including the players, coaches and families.

The Labor Day Beach Bash is sold out to incoming teams. The players ages 9 to 16 will compete on all of Historic Dodgertown’s nine professionally designed baseball fields, including the iconic Holman Stadium. Historic Dodgertown also features a half baseball field for infield drills, plus a 100 yard x 130 yard multi-purpose field for warm-ups and also used for the sports of football, rugby, soccer and lacrosse.

Teams who booked early have the advantage of staying on-property in one of Historic Dodgertown’s 89 hotel villa rooms, but the majority will stay at our partner hotels, thereby bringing a boost to the local economy through their stays, dining, shopping and entertainment.

Each year Historic Dodgertown welcomes professional, national team, collegiate, high school and youth teams for games and training in the sports of baseball, softball, football, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, and for water sports land training. The teams travel from across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and from around the world, to advance their sports skills in a unique, distraction-free environment.

In addition, our full-service Conference Center and meeting rooms are booked for corporate meetings and retreats, social events, and holiday parties. Historic Dodgertown’s recreational amenities reserved for on-site hotel guests are optimal: a competition-size swimming pool and desk to accommodate 500 guests, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, major-league designed fitness rooms and paths for walking and jogging.

Historic Dodgertown’s client list includes Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, the Korean Baseball Organization, Canadian Football League, Your Call Football, China’s National Women’s Softball Team, China’s Men’s National Baseball Team, Baseball and Softball Factory, FCSAA Junior College Softball State Championship, FHSAA High School State Softball Championship, Nike Lacrosse, Bill Pilate’s Lacrosse Goalie School, Division I and II sports, USA Rugby/ATAVUS, and more. The annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game is played at Holman Stadium every April 15, honoring Robinson who in 1947 broke the color barrier in sports. Dodgertown, which opened in 1948 and was the first the first completely integrated Spring Training site in the South, was named a Florida Heritage Landmark in 2014.
