The Sebastian River Art Club is holding a Christmas Art Bazaar at the Art Center, 1245 Main Street on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm until Christmas. On exhibit are Little Gems, small, affordable works created by members to benefit the Ecumenical Food Council.  In addition, the Club’s Art By the River, an outdoor art show will be held on Saturday, December 15 from 10 am to 4 pm at Riverview Park.

ATTENTION BIG HEARTS!

The Vero Beach Yacht Club, 3601 Rio Vista Blvd. (next to the City Marina) is accepting donations of new Teddy Bears (with tags) that will be delivered to children and the elderly at the Indian River Medical Center and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department.  Bring a smile to someone’s face this holiday season!  Teddy Bears may be dropped off at the Club Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm until December 28th.

McKee Botanical Garden has installed the iconic sculpture, Embracing Peace, of a sailor and a nurse, by renowned artist Seward Johnson.  This sculpture, now available for viewing in the Garden, will be a part of the upcoming exhibit of Johnson’s Celebrating the Familiar series, which begins on January 5th and will be on view through April 28. McKeeGarden.org.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13

The Raw Space Gallery, 1795 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach presents Women by Women Art Exhibition with an opening reception on Friday, December 14 from 6 to 9 pm.  View painting, photography & sculptures by 42 female artists, and the Featured Art Installation, The Faces of Eve – Vero Beach by Niurka Barroso. There will also be Celebration Dance by Nejie Sylvester and Performances by Dance Students Indian River State College.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER  14

Attend an early Christmas Feast at the Vero Beach Elks Lodge on Friday,  December 14 at 6:30 pm.  The menu is Rich’s Famous Fried Shrimp, Slow Roasted Beef Brisket, Mac & Cheese, Homemade Baked Beans, Buttered Peas, Coleslaw, Corn Bread and Rolls and Cheesecake.  There will be music by Gene & Patty.  For reservations ($12.00) call 772 562 8450.

SATURDAY  DECEMBER 15

The Sebastian River Art Club’s Art By the River, an outdoor art show will be held on Saturday, December 15 from 10 am to 4 pm at Riverview Park.

CENTENNIAL EVENT THIS WEEK: BOAT PARADE!

Saturday, December 15: Christmas Boat Parade!  The boat parade will assemble at 5:30 and will start at 6 in the intracoastal waterway between the two bridges and finish at the Vero Beach City Marina. Viewing stations include: Royal Palm Point and Vero Beach City Marina. Consider taking lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The event is free for spectators and participants.

The American Association of University Women Holiday Party will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 3:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2555 58th Avenue in Vero Beach.  Refreshments will be provided by board members and entertainment by the Vero Beach High School Choral Group.  Donations of new or gently used pre-K books for the young readers project will be gratefully received.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15 & 16

One of the world’s great oratorios will be presented on Saturday and Sunday, December 15 and 16 at 7:00 pm by the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach as an annual Christmas gift to the Treasure Coast community.  Messiah will be performed by four professional soloists, instrumentalists of the Messiah Chamber Orchestra and a 100-voice chorus consisting of the church’s sanctuary choir, other local choir members and the Treasure Coast Chorale.
