ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT
The Cultural Council of Indian River County’s popular Arts in Public Places program has been expanded to include art in the Indian River County Intergenerational Recreation Center. More than 20 works of art by local artists were installed in one of the highly trafficked corridors at the Center.
Recreation Director Mike Redstone expressed his pleasure with the project, saying “the Cultural Council has provided a terrific selection of very high quality art by local artists.” He added that this part of the Center was designed with the Art in Public Places in mind and that the Center is already getting very positive comments about the new art installation.
Through the Arts in Public Places program, the Cultural Council serves in an advisory capacity for permanent installations of art purchased by the County and the City of Vero Beach through the Art In Public Places Committee. The Committee reviews Cultural Council member artists’ work for rotating exhibitions in Indian River County and Vero Beach public buildings, coordinates and encourages Public Art projects with local government agencies and non-profit organizations and serves as an advocate for public art in Indian River County. Exhibits already exist at the Indian River County Courthouse and the Indian River County Administration Complex and in the passenger waiting room at the Vero Beach Regional Airport.
