DONATE A TEDDY BEAR & CHEER UP A CHILD!

The Vero Beach Yacht Club is collecting new Teddy Bears to give to children under stress.  Teddy Bears may be dropped off at the Club, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 16 – 20 at the clubhouse, 3601 Rio Vista Blvd., next to the City Marina.

FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY STROLL

The First Friday Gallery Stroll will be held on July 5 from 5 to 8 pm along & around 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach.  Gallery 14 continues it’s summer exhibition of New Work and Old Favorites by Gallery 14 Artists.  Artists Guild Gallery features paintings by Carol Makris.  Main Street Vero Beach’s guest artist is Mellisa Lagana   Flametree Clay Art Gallery’s theme is Patriotic Summer.

H.A.L.O.’s 4th of July edition of Artisans at the Mall featuring talented vendors with an amazing variety of hand-crafted items will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 11 am to 4 pm.  There will be kid’s activities and a Raffle Donation Station located outside of the H.A.L.O. SCI FI FILMS AT THE MUSEUM OF ART

The Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Summer Sci-Fi Film series in conjunction with its Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition continues on Tuesday, July 9 at 5:30 pm with The Man Who Fell to Earth.  The films are free for members and those with paid admission to the exhibits.

NEW CLASSES

The Indian River Genealogical Society is offering free beginning genealogy classes Introduction to Genealogy Class on Saturdays from 10 am to noon on July 13 & 20 and Friday, July 26 at the Indian River County Main Library.   Sign up at the Library before July 10th or call the Indian River Genealogical Society 772-444-7470.

VERO BEACH INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Award-winning bluegrass, Americana, and folk musicians from around the country will gather to perform together in one-of-a-kind collaborations as part of the Vero Beach International Music Festival at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd. The event, part of the Mike Block String Camp, is from July 10-13 with three public performances. Admission is free; a suggested $20 donation will benefit the Mike Block String Camp Scholarship fund.  Main stage performances will be held Wednesday, July 10, and Friday, July 12, both at 7:30 pm. Main Stage performers include multiple Grammy Award winners and nominees, as well as advanced students from around the world.  The final performance, on Saturday, July 13, at 3:00 pm., will feature student musicians from the Mike Block String Camp and a barn dance.   For more information, please visit http://www.verobeachinternationalmusicfestival.com

CATS AT THE VERO BEACH THEATRE GUILD

CATS opens at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild on Wednesday, July 10 and runs through July 28.  Let the memory live again with this ground-breaking musical seen by more than 73 million people worldwide.  Since its world premier in 1981, CATS, adapted from TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats has been presented in over 30 countries delighting audiences with a sparkling fusion of music, dance and verse including one of the most treasured songs in musical theatre, Memory, to be performed by Eleanor Dixon.  Performances will be held weekdays at 7:30 pm and Saturdays and Sundays matinees at 2 pm. The Vero Beach International Music Festival at First Presbyterian Church with 3 public performances this weekend. THURSDAY, JULY 11

Join Joe Gramm, The Movie Man, at 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 11th at the North Indian River County Library in Sebastian for “Classic Films with a Twist.” There will be a full-length screening of a 2001 film that put Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Shirley MacLaine & Joan Collins together on screen for the first time. It’s a hoot! You won’t want to miss it.  Free.

STAR PARTY FOR KIDS AT THE MUSEUM OF ART

Join the Vero Beach Museum of Art for the second annual Star Party on Saturday, July 13 from 7 to 10 pm. Enjoy docent-led tours of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition, and get close-up views of the moon thanks to Treasure Coast Astronomy Club. Make space-themed art in the Museum Studios, and discover the night sky in the Art Zone. Food will be available. The Star party is free with Admission, Members Free. SUNSET SATURDAY NIGHT

The Oceanside Business Association is holding Sunset Saturday Night on Ocean Drive at Humiston Park on Saturday, July 13 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.  Enjoy live music by the Casey Raines Band (Country Rock & Pop Dance Band), a variety of food and drink and stroll the community booths. Make sure to visit the Vero Beach Yacht Club booth to donate a new Teddy Bear to children in need.  Outside food and beverages are discouraged in lieu of the many food venues and beverage bars which are on-site on concert nights. When the music is over, you can enjoy a stroll down Ocean Drive, and maybe cruise on over to an after-party at one of the fabulous hotels, restaurants, and bars.

The Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra will perform Motown – The Groove  that changed America on Saturday, July 13 at 3 pm at the Emerson Center. This program will include hits made famous by artists like Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, the Supremes, the Four Tops and Marvin Gaye.  $25 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at the Marine Bank & Trust, mainland and beachside branches.  Tickets at the door are $30.  Free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.

SUNDAY, JULY 14

Free Summertime Movies begins on Sunday, July 14  at 3 pm with A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga, Dave Chappelle and Andrew Dice Clay at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce. Tickets are available in person only at the theatre’s box office located at 117 South Second Street, Ft. Pierce, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday – Friday and two hours prior to each movie.  Limit 4 tickets per person.  Tickets are subject to availability. Call 772-461-4775.

TUESDAY, JULY 16

The Vero Beach Museum of Art Summer Sci-Fi Film series continues with Cocoon on Tuesday, July 16 at 5:30 pm.  Films are free for Members or with paid admission and include access to the exhibitions. Pre-registration is encouraged by calling by calling Ellyn Giordano at  (772) 231-0707.
