We have Resources available to include a local press contact list, calls to artists and auditions as well as members offering classes. The Cultural Council creates the free Arts & Cultural Guide each year; administers  public art exhibitions at 4 venues in the county; has created the Arts In Medicine Program; has a Cultural Concierge Program and promotes member’s events online, in the news and on the radio.  Visit our website to see how membership will benefit you.

CALL TO ARTISTS – PUBLIC ART PROGRAM

AUGUST  FUN AT THE ELC

The Environmental Learning Center has added new programs for August. Here’s a recap – visit DiscoverELC.org for details.

Learn something new: EcoTalks Speaker Series-Barrier Island Plant Communities; Natural Glycerides & Liniment Making Class and Earth Enthusiasts Summer Workshops.

Immerse yourself in nature: See-through Canoes, paddleboards, kayaks, pontoon tours and more to explore the Indian River Lagoon and Plant Walks.

For your body & soul:  Living Yoga with Elise, is offered every Tuesday from 9 am to 10 am;  Qigong  Every Wednesday from 9 am to 10 am; Walking Meditation in the Butterfly Garden on the 4th Sunday of every month from 11 am to Noon.  The ELC is now open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Live in the Loop-Cheeseburgers in Paradise Party! Enjoy a rock n’ party where you can leave the stress of everyday life behind. Chill-out with live music, ice cold beverages and a variety of fire-grilled cheeseburgers and specials from the bar and grill. Live music from 6 to 9:30 pm by Beachland (Music from the Beach Boys, Drifters, Jimmy Buffett and 70s Yacht Rock!) on both Friday & Saturday nights.

TAKE A BREAK!  ENJOY THE SUNNY & COOL  SUMMERFEST CONCERT!

The Symphony of the Americas completes its 31st Anniversary season celebration, Summerfest 2019, in Vero Beach, Sunday, August 11 at 3 pm at Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church.  With this year’s sunny “sail away” theme, Summerfest 2019 brings the masterful sounds of its popular Chamber Orchestra, along with musicians and soloists from renowned orchestras throughout Europe to perform several styles of classical and popular music.  This year’s musicians in residence are from the Opera Orchestra of Sofia, Mission Symphony of Switzerland, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Francais,   and others, all joined in a cultural exchange by principal musicians of the Symphony of the Americas.  Music students from middle through high school are invited to attend the performance as guests of the Cultural Council. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY AT SUNRISE THEATRE!

Free summer movies continue at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce on Sunday, August 11 with Bohemian Rhapsody, starring, Rami Malek, Lucy Boynton and Gwilym Lee. Tickets are available in person only at the theatre’s box office located at 117 South Second Street, Ft. Pierce, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm,  Monday through Friday and two hours prior to each movie.  Limit 4 tickets per person.  Tickets are subject to availability.

  1. I e-mailed “someone” about this matter, but think it bears repeating:

    To put the names of juveniles in the public press used to be a no-no; in fact–I believe it may have been against the law.

    I am saddened that the names of the children who did the smash and grab worth approximately $3,000 or $1,000 apiece for the three foolish thieves, resulted in their now –on the record and very public– shaming. It will impact their ability to continue schooling perhaps, get a job or become productive members of the community; one, two or three more drains on the public purse likely. They have been forever tarred and feathered by public shaming
