Vintage The Band.

Sebastian Inlet State Park will showcase the band, Vintage, on Saturday, September 14 from 7 to 9 pm.  As one of the most popular and hardest working bands in Brevard county, Vintage brings energy and passion while playing their own takes on music spanning the last 50 years. Come see Vintage and you will leave with a smile on your face guaranteed! The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of Sebastian Inlet. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.


The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will perform Latin American inspired music during its concert, Caliente, at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center on Sunday, September 15 at 3:00 pm.  Join the SCSO for a scintillating concert of passionate tangos, blazing mambos and pulsating congas. The symphony’s all-Latin program includes such favorites as Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, Bernstein’s West Side Story, and dynamic orchestral works from contemporary Latin composers, including Conga del Fuego and Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez, Fandangos by Roberto Sierra, and Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank. Soprano, Amy Cofield joins the orchestra to sing Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’s gorgeous Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5.  Internationally renowned conductor, Laszlo Marosi will conduct several works on the program, including the World Premiere of Christopher Marshall’s Streets of Old San Juan.   The playful rhythms, familiar dance tunes and fiery passion of these works will transport you to Latin America in this snappy, sizzling program. The Community Church of Vero Beach presents Atlantica Trio featuring Sasha Korczynski, violin; Adriana Stenvik, cello and John Korczynski, piano.  Tickets are $10 adult ticket ~ $5 student ticket.  For tickets call 772-778-1070.



Pelican Island Audubon’s Monday, September 16 meeting at the Vero Beach Community Center, 2266 14th Avenue starting at 7:00 pm, features Ken Lindeman, Ph.D., discussing Changing Climate, Changing Fisheries: Florida and the Caribbean. This meeting is free and the public is invited to attend. Dr. Lindeman is a professor in the Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology, which is working to discover and apply multidisciplinary findings to advance sustainable coastal policies focusing on the management of coastal lands, fisheries, and habitats affected by human-induced disturbances including climate change. To sustain coastal economies and ecosystems, the work typically focuses on conservation planning for nearshore habitats, marine protected areas, and sea level rise adaptation.  This presentation will cover the basics of oceans and climate change;  what we know about impacts on Florida and Caribbean fisheries; what the science suggests we will see in coming decades; and what we can do in response.



Two exciting events are scheduled by the Cultural Council of Indian River County this month that are not to be missed!

The Cultural Council’s annual event for the unveiling of the 2019-20 Cultural Events Guide will be held at the Art of Networking on Tuesday, September 24 from 5 to 7 pm at Blue Star Brasserie, 2227 14th Avenue in Vero Beach.  This is your chance to pick up copies of the new Guide or order quantities for delivery to your business.  Attendance is free for Cultural Council Members, and only $5 for guests.  All are welcome!
