Who doesn’t’ love a parade? No matter your age, the Centennial Parade will surely start the Finale Day off on the right foot on Saturday morning, October 26, starting at 10:00 a.m. The parade will mark the end of the year-long activities that have taken place in celebration of Vero Beach turning 100 years old. The parade staging area will be located at the Vero Beach High School on 16th Street for all participants to line up for the trek up 14th Avenue and through Historic Downtown until right past the old Vero Beach Railroad Station.
Celebrating 20 years of entertaining Vero Beach, Disc Jockey Joe Tessier, owner of Swingsation’s Studios, will be kicking off the morning festivities at 9 a.m. playing a great mix of lively and fun music that will entertain and delight both the parade participants and onlookers.
Onlookers can begin setting up at their favorite spots along the route to watch the vehicles, floats, bands, walkers, riders and the children. Nearly 300 to 500 costumed children are expected to march! While all are welcome anywhere along the route, the main action will be by the Parade Reviewing stand at the intersection of 14th Ave and 21st Street. Radio Hosts Bob Soos and Hamp Elliot from WGYL and WTTB (The official radio station for the Centennial), will join Tessier announcing all the colorful news about the parade participants, floats, bands and getting the crowd all revved up for the day ahead.
Once the parade ends, bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to Pocahontas park for the remainder of the scheduled events until 6:30 p.m. Enjoy this glorious fall day, one community making new memories together….while listening to music and enjoying the parade, booth and historical displays, an art sweepstakes, food, friends and family while mingling in and around Pocahontas Park and more ….The Centennial Celebration Finale….mingle with old friends and make new ones.
