PERFORMANCES & EVENTS

Riverside Theatre’s Live in the Loop Outdoor Grill and Bar reopened and is offering two dining experiences: outdoor dining with live music and indoor dining with comedy. CDC and State guidelines on reopening casual dining will be followed for outdoor dining in The Loop and indoor dining in the Waxlax.  Tickets to Live in the Loop are free, but must be obtained on the website: http://www.RiversideTheatre.com. There is a limit of 4 tickets per household.  Live in the Loop, bands start performing at 6pm. Open at 5:30pm. August 14th & 15th  – Doo Wop City, Oldies Rock n’ Roll Band is performing.

The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra  will be performing drive-in concerts to celebrate the strength and resilience of our community. Concerts in the special Treasure Coast Strong Series are  held in an outdoor setting at the Pathway Church, 1105 58th Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32966 on Fridays at 7:00 pm. Attendees can remain in their vehicles or bring their own seating.

Vero Beach Museum of Art offers VBMA Art Talk August 19, 2020 at 12 noon  “Redefining the Artist – Avery to Warhol”  July 17, 2020 – January 3, 2021 join VBMA docent via Zoom for an in-depth focus on selected works from the current exhibition. Free program but registration required. Visit: https://www.vbmuseum.org/gallery-tours-2/

The VBMA Avery to Warhol is an exhibition of our new Senior Curator, Anke Van Wagenberg’s selections from the vault. The exhibition will showcase a recent gift to the collection, Henry Hubbell’s Portrait of Three Sisters. From this 1903 painting, we will virtually travel through the twentieth century from the paintings by Milton Avery to Andy Warhol and not only contemporary masters but also selections of the glass collection of the VBMA. Music Theory for Adult Beginners at Community Church of Vero Beach August 12, 11:00am – 12:00pm August 19, 11:00am – 12:00pm Andrew Galuska, Director of Music and Fine Arts at the Community Church of Vero Beach will teach a six-week course in Music History for adult beginners. Content will range from medieval to modern music. Registration is now open.

August 17, 11:00am – 12:00pm Join Jill Truax, Associate Director of Music at the Community Church of Vero Beach for a six-week course in Music Theory. If you have little experience and need a refresher, or if you have absolutely no experience, join Jill for this class. Sight-Singing and Solfege for Adult Beginners at Community Church of Vero Beach August 18, 11:00am – 12:00pm Join Rachel Carter, resident Soprano at the Community Church of Vero Beach for a classes in Sight-singing and solfege. Teach at the Museum Art School The VBMA’s Museum Art School seeks proposals from artists and art educators to lead online classes for adults in the fall (September 28-December 11, 2020). We are looking for instructors in the following areas: contemporary and modern art history, photography and editing, digital drawing, drawing, mixed media, collage, watercolor painting, acrylic and oil painting, pottery, graphic design, animation, jewelry making, book illustration, sculpting, wood sculpting, weaving, sewing, and costume design. Request for Proposals is open until August 19, 2020Visit: http://www.vbmuseum.org/teach-at-the-museum-art-school

McKee Botanical Garden has been selected as a beneficiary of the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program for the Month of August by store leadership at the Winn-Dixie located at 2950 9th Street SW (Oslo Road) in Vero Beach. McKee Botanical Garden will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during the month of August, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

Indian River’s Got Talent is Here

Environmental Learning Center is presenting a new and exciting event— Indian River’s Got Talent! Dust off your tap shoes, tune your guitar and practice your magic tricks— Get your act together, because Indian River’s Got Talent has arrived! This new and entertaining event is in the works, and we are now accepting submissions for our youth division. Submit an up to two-minute video of any talent suitable for public viewing to DiscoverELC.org/IRGT. Cell phone videos are accepted. Submission Deadlines: 12th grade and younger submissions due September 15. Adult submission deadline will be announced soon.

Sing, dance, play a musical instrument, perform a comedy or magic act, show off your sports moves and show us your talent! The categories for our youth division will be segmented by grade— Elementary School (Grades K-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12). Submissions can be one person or up to as many participants as you would like. Please only submit one entry. Indian River’s Got Talent is now FREE! All who enter will receive two free admission tickets to the ELC. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the entry fee.
