holiday events
The Environmental Learning Center’s (ELC) popular event, Wintergreen Night Lights is back for three evenings in 2020.
Wintergreen Night Lights will take place on December 10, 11 and 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Environmental Learning Center’s campus. Guests can take a canoe quick trip through the mangrove tunnels, beautifully lit up with holiday lights. Private group canoe tours are also available.
The ELC has adapted their traditional holiday event to offer a safe way to experience the best of their holiday celebration and bring the community together. This event is free and open to the public. Face coverings are required when you cannot maintain six feet of social distancing from other guests.
Mangrove Magic and Holiday Cheer in Nature
Visitors may immerse themselves in the mangrove tunnels—explore by canoe as you glide under the mangrove trees and enjoy the magical atmosphere when they are lit up with lights. The cost for a canoe trip is $10 per person. Pre-registration is highly encouraged as these sell out quickly.
Private group tours are available to treat your staff or clients to the perfect holiday gift, any evening starting December 13th. To reserve a private tour, please contact nancy@discoverelc.org.

In addition to the canoe tours, the ELC’s Discovery station and campus will also be open for guests to enjoy at no cost. This features interactive displays and exhibits, aquariums and a touch tank.
The ELC will offer a bonfire with s’mores to allow guests to relax and get into the holiday spirit! S’mores packets will be available for $5 each, and come in a reusable silicone snack bag for you to take home and add to your eco-friendly kitchen collection.
