Riverside for Kids fall dance & theatre classes

Riverside Theatre for Kids announces its Fall class schedule for 2021. Kevin Quillinan, Director of Theatre Education, and Adam Schnell, Director of Dance Education, will be starting classes the week of August 16th.

In Theatre Education, our Performance Academy format allows for the instruction of students in the development and expansion of their talents. The in-person classes are divided by age with a Junior and Senior Performance Academy. The Junior Performance troupe is for ages 6 to 10 with the Senior Performance troupe for ages 8 and up.

In Dance Education, youth and adult classes are offered from beginner to advanced in: Ballet, Creative Dance, Jazz, Modern Dance, Pointe, and Tap. Adult programs are for those 18 and up, Youth and Teen programs are for those 6 to 18, and Young Children’s programs are for those between the ages of 3 to 5.  Depending on the program, dance classes meet once or twice a week.

Theatre Education classes are as follows:

Junior Performance Academy – Ages 6-10

Musical Theatre Showcase 

A beginner level class where students will learn songs, scenes, and dances from beloved Broadway shows.

Dates: August 16 through October 2, 2021

Character Workshop

A beginner level class that will present Holiday characters and material performing as part of the 2021 Festival of Trees in November.

Dates: October 4 through November 21, 2021

Senior Performance Academy – Ages 8 and up

Disney’s Beauty and The Beast JR.

A staged concert performance of the classic Disney tale to take place on October 1 & 2, 2021.

Dates: August 16 through October 2, 2021

Elf, The Musical JR.

Performances of the show will be part of the 2021 Festival of Trees in November. (Online auditions must be submitted by September 15, 2021.)

Dates: October 1 through November 21, 2021

Riverside Theatre for Kids, the Education Division of Riverside Theatre, is designed to offer performance opportunities, behind-the-scenes access to professional and educational shows at Riverside, and further develop students’ skills in all areas of the performing arts.
