Gifford Youth Orchestra 18th Annual Concert

November 6, 2pm, Gifford Community Center Five Indian River County Rotary Clubs are collectively sponsoring a special segment of the concert dedicated to the Peace Initiative. Musician Jeryl Thompson wrote a special composition for the occasion, which will have its world premiere at the concert. The song will be presented in a unique and creative way by the students and teachers.  

Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra presents Basie on the Beatles

“Hey Jude,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Penny Lane,” “Yesterday” and “Come Together,” are all legendary songs from the undisputed leaders of the British invasion, The Beatles, the mega group that steamrolled onto the American music scene in the 1960s. Now imagine these tunes infused with a soulful twist from the iconic Count Basie, the American jazz composer renowned for big band, swing and bebop. Your Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Frank Wosar will present an electrifying program like no other, featuring the music of The Beatles filtered through the imagination of the immortal Count Basie.

Vero Beach Theatre Guild Season 64 presents Tony Award winner Sleuth

Performances run November 10 – 21 This clever whodunit is directed by Beth McKenzie-Shestak.

This immensely popular cat-and-mouse thriller pits master crime writer Andrew Wyke against a young rival for his wife’s affections. Revenge is devised and murders plotted as the two plan the ultimate whodunnit. With twists, turns, and a surprise or two, Sleuth has proven itself to be a favorite of this most popular genre. Winner of the 1971 Tony Award for Best Play. 

A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery ~ The Best of the Best

On view through November 12.

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery is pleased to announce the works of art that have been accepted to the 2021 Juried Art Exhibition The Best of the Best. A jury panel of three independent judges voted to accept 85 entries out of 243 submissions in four categories: Oil/Acrylics, Watercolor, Varied Techniques, and Three-Dimensional. Gallery Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm, Sunday, Noon – 4pm

Americana by Dorothy-Schindel

The Cultural Council of Indian River County, in partnership with the Vero Beach Museum of Art, announces a very special Art In Public Places exhibit Contemporary Folk Art ~ Member Exhibit

On View through November 28. Member artists were invited to submit artwork in the style of folk art to complement the museum’s current exhibit, American Perspective: Stories from the American Folk Art Collection, On View through January 2. Works of canvas, clay, basketry, wood, textile, resin are among the media used in this eclectic and creative collection from our local artists. The exhibit will be on display in the Patten Gallery in the Education wing. There is no admission fee to view the AIPP exhibit in the Patten Community Gallery.

The Galleries at First Pres – Fall Art Installment

First Pres feature a wide variety of works by local artists, on rotation throughout the year. The Galleries are located throughout the campus of First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach; they are open for viewing from 12pm to 3pm Monday through Thursday, and on Sunday mornings between church services.
